Is there a way to run it on Vulkan?

Well, I feel you very much about Python! Also was coding in plenty of languages for past 30 years (assembly, pascal, C, D, java, visual basic, typescript, C++, and so on and so for) and every now and then I wonder if that aversion of mine towards indentation based languages (python, nim) comes from lack of enough flexibility of my mind/aversion towards training my brain to use and recognize different coding way or it is simply because it not ergonomic enough once you reach certain skill level.

Why would you allow your phone to be a computer if you can sell a computer AND a phone? Allowing "random" OS to be installed on your phone would mean loosing control over your phone (including spying, gathering statistical data to influence major decisions, ability to paralyze communication of your country etc etc)

Android phones are nothing but linux phones and video output (DP over USB-C, earlier MHL) is for many years already included in many phones. I would love to carry one device with everything on it. I would be very happy if that device was like a laptop with detachable core, that acts as phone.

Price itself has nothing to cause problems, it is either bad design or false or incomplete data on datasheets or all of it. It is finally a time to replace laptops with phones and laptop like docking stations. With hardware prices you'll save on buying twice, keep all your stuff in one device etc. That is what any disrupting company should head for.

Actually social media is relatively easy to replace and as such not as big threat to European economy as other types of service. The biggest threat from social media is manipulation and collection of data that can be used to manipulate.

Benefits are bigger than anyone realizes. Even if it would cost same it would still be money that are to circulate further in local economy.

@pron If all you mean is there is more syntax to D than to zig to achieve same/similar thing then you may be a bit aggresive on how you communicate it.

Inconvenient, most of the times freaking expensive or vendor locked, no privacy - these are major reasons why it doesn't work out.

A good VR headset will be most probably a form of wireless screen (not a beafy computer) that is simple, lightweight (at most 200g in front of your face), cheap enough so you'll be able to wear it with you and not worry that something happens to it or be able to afford it for each member of your family without major effort and most of all - it should be replacing computer/laptop screen for daily tasks.

Ryzen AI max+ 395 128GB can do 256GBps so lets put all these "ifs" to bed once for all. That is absolutely no brainer to drop more RAM as long as there is enough bits in address space of physical hardware. And there usually is, as same silicons are branded and packaged differently for commercial market and for consumer market. Check up how chinese are doubling 4090s RAM from 24 to 48GB.

Didn't try Quest 3, but biggest disadvantages of quest 2 are:

- half a kilo hanging in front of your face

- working in the summer w/o air conditioning is a nightmare

Having nreal air. It is so freaking inconvenient to wear for longer that every time I see someone posting how they replaced regular screen with ar glasses or vr (yes, tried also Quest 2) I laugh HARD!

3090 is about twice as expensive as 7900 XTX, so out of my budget at this moment. I'm EU based and my absolute top limit is 1000 USD. 7900XTX cost around that and dual Arc A770 cost about 30% less.

I've seen these threads (I've done actually quite some digging before reaching to HN), but my problem is that if I'm to make decision I would want to see how both solution compare directly with exactly same model on most recent drivers. Having results from different models, or results older than 2-3 months is not reliable in this case.

That is not a framework choice, that is an AMD architecture that doesn't use regular RAM modules as it requires wider data bus

We need some disruptive movement here, it can't be like that forever. I'm 44 now and waiting for many, many years already for open sourcing everything that is needed to get android phones running native linux as main and only OS with support of all devices on board. I want single device for my daily desktop, VR and phone tasks. I don't need 3 separate computers for these. And I want to HAVE MY FREEDOM with MY DEVICE. And lastly - would give my middle finger to everyone trying to charge extra for this freedom, it is not a slavery with option to buy yourself off.

Well, if these really exist, 2 commits a month and 300k USD a year, please let me know, I'm gonna do 4 (at least) ;-)

I was wondering - if I was to use 2 high resolution (4Mpix each) screens (lvds or mipi), create "Li-fi" like transceiver 20+ Mbps and have ability to decode at 60+ FPS video streams - is there a single simple SoC that could handle this? Or still need FPGA?
