How Bitcoin Works 15 years ago

ok, so is it only me, or this is NO difference for having your own money-printing machine??

I respect the idea and execution and OK it is secure and everything, but if you can use your hands/brain to create work and get paid for that work in currency X, and then use that currency X to sustain yourself (pay bills, food, gas, etc), then the entire government become obsolete!! I am not arguing here whether a mature society needs government or not, I rather say here that there is a government in place (at least US) and this will be taken as a treason and a pure act of terrorism! (terrorism is any attempt to derail a government entity).

I am sure feds/FBI is in it by now! There was a lesson learnt for music industry when P2P blown out and basically the law lost and it is so easy even today to obtain copyrighted music/audio materials. I am SURE federal government will not let entire country economy to be at stake by some P2P currency.

there is ONLY one money-printing machine in USA, it is a privately owned entity called "Federal Reserve", dont get fooled by "Federal" in the name (Federal Express is private company).

everyone else coming up with more or less sophisticated machine to print money, or exchange money, or any form of transaction that Federal Government is unable to track/monitor/accept or deny WILL get hurt very badly. It is just a matter how popular your machine is and how much traction it is getting. But rest assured, once you turn it on, you have your own chart in the FBI system.

Maidoff was rising money as well. Here he spent life in prision; in China they kill. I wish they penalties in US would be harsher. Death is too extreme, but this is China, overpopulated, I never lived there havent been raised so have no idea how their brains work. But the truth is, if penalties in US would be harsher, you wouldnt have 30yrs old pot smoker going to jail for 5 years for 2 joints, while Vacovia washing $700mil of worth cocaine on plane to US and got "penalized" $300mil and nobody goes to jail. Same with real estate bubble. People committed suicides after loosing houses, while Goldman was giving $100mil in bonuses. Wild Wild West in 2011!

I love JavaScript!!

I have no idea how boring and where dynamic web-paging would be today without JS!

yeah, thats kind of interesting. I think we will need to define "live improvement".

I can't find much in social networks. I cannot imagine calling a person pouring through the wall of friends feeds' live is much improved.

nika, good input! one insight though. I have a friend working high in hierarchy in one of the biggest precious metals trader in the world. He told me what you saying about gold (and other P.M.), but he said that White House is drafting an Executive Order for president (Obama if still?) to actually ban sell and export of P.M. you see, they know when dollar loose its green face, it will be nothing more than paper, and then P.M. will soar. In order to stop or slow it down, the government will be entitle to take ownership over your precious metals (it happened in the past!) and cruel penalties will apply if you do not submit. further to cool of the US market it will be forbidden to import/export not to create a shell in US for cheap/expensive p.m. tradeoff. The biggest trade houses are advising clients to stash pm. or certificates in foreign countries. he also told me they lobby hard to allow IRS to tax other-than-bullion P.M. Right now, as you know, you dont need to report gold and silver coins to the IRS (bullion only). I think you are right about the bubble, but this one will be "revert-bubble": it will grow naturally through market need, but will be artificially killed by US government and its sanctions. I have 80% of wealth in us silver great eagle/canadian coin since $21. I think we will see $100 on it, but I may be wrong.

droz, totally agree with you AND honestly I think this should be THE MOST important thing Facebook should be working on...

Internet is more and more shaping like human life, because well it only exist if humans contribute. When internet was young it acted like a teenager: want to be anonymous and talk crap, spam, troll, now this is like a 20years old growing up man -- wants to put his real identity upfront, upload real pictures, organize and connect with real-life friends, etc.

Facebook lacks next layer, next growing up stage, that is everyone has multiple identities and act accordingly to situation: work, home, friends, family, lovers, etc. This is pretty much what you said already -- I think Facebook failed with "groups" -- they should put more effort into literally enforcing users to organize everyone into real-life "groups", so once this is done you can give options to modify feeds from each person. Now, my wall is equally crapped by people I dont want to hear everyday, and my closest family. Its a mess; like well-build Geocites with nice logo on the top...

IF Facebook wont put more focus on enforcing people to get into groups, I agree that sooner or later they will start declining. I dont really "buy" that whole "everyone is in so I am not going anywhere" point; looks at MySpace -- everyone was there. Fast forward 3 years later everyone is somewhere else. The point is, once a website goes viral, friend of friends and their friends start joining, you won't stop migration of users from one website to another -- but obviously first islander need to see benefits and reasons to move on. Once this start, it will NOT be cool anymore to have a Facebook profile. I cant wait for these days.. not really that I wish bad to someone -- but I want to see how CEO of Facebook will act to save his sinking ship. Oh, I also don't buy the fact that "entire website is using facebook features, such as "like" and forum etc". Trust me, once a new network kicks in, it is obviously will be #1 goal of every webmaster and administrator to attach a new&cool thing to their website. You will see that new widget everywhere within weeks, if not days!!

a simple project I did over the weekend. Nothing fancy.

Thanks to Anton Brand for a cool nerd caricature :)

Oh! One amazing thing I learnt during this project is that .info domains cost only like 2 bucks! :) -- thats incredible cheap for a regular web exposure :)

ps. if you like the idea, please submit it to your favorite social website.

well actually we dont know whats inside the moon soil, just like you can have some sort of "scanner" and scan earth below to determine where diamonds are located.

AFAIK, there never been any digger machines located on the moon, so... :)

"the activities of non-governmental entities in outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall require authorization and continuing supervision by the appropriate State Party to the Treaty"

thats just great!! aliens havent even landed, but they are already terrorists!!

- second thought, perhaps thats why they dont want to reveal themselves: not to get jailtime!

humanize google -- that will NEVER happen for pure economical reason.

you are not talking here about hiring a customer team of 50 folks answering the phone. you talking about half a million team of humans sticked to the phone 24/7 in order to accomplish that and succeed. I dont think AdSense revenue would cover the payroll and still keep GOOG stock going up.

here is the blueprint as of HOW google can win social: take me as an example: I am a web programmer, mostly php and mysql. google can determine that from my searches I am sure. but no matter how much I google I am still getting pages of C++ and Oracle results to my php/mysql problems.

To win social they should let webadmins of all sort of websites and all subjects (not only programming but anything else there is) implement more narrowed down system that would let them talk back to Google spider (sort of key tagging or GQL some sort of Google Query Language that would let admins describe what google boot see in more mechanical/technical language), and this way Google search results will be more precise, near to perfection! who goes beyond second results page?? I only found garbage after that! All I need is an answer to my question, not 50 pages of results. Accomplish that, Google, and I am stick to your search for next 10 years at least!

I agree with your first sentence and strongly disagree with second.

I think its the dumbest move on Page part. Let Google be AND REMAIN the best what it is the best SIMPLE SEARCH.

if not, then Page may wake up in 5 years with half of Goog valuation as a zombie-lunatic who still tries to create a Social network when his main money making machine is broken dues to poor maintenance.

pretty weak explanations: "millions of others do". millions are in prison rotting for murder -- would you consider that a "good thing to do" ?

social in web is still inmature. most facebooker are on the war of whom got more friends on their list -- something in real society does not happen. most myspacers upload photos next to "cool" stuff, like friends porche claimed their own, owesome vacations that never took place, etc -- something in real society does not happen alot OR you are pushed outside the circle. what you see right now is very inmature social.

I remember reading that long time ago. It actually made me quit AT&T and every time someone called me, I tend to ask or check their number and tell them you calling me from AT&T do you know about "the room"? Couple times my friends quit it for the same reason; others don't care. I guess the answer is switch to a different career.

I had a good laugh when I read (think it was Wikipedia) about that room. AT&T was sued over it... they defends themselves by 1) the room does not exist AND 2) this lawsuit should not be proceed due to Act of National Security setting aside lawsuit frames. LOOL! I dont know about you -- but to me first contradicts the second one :)) the judge only decided on count 2) -- that it is indeed NSA involved - so it was dismissed, but if there is NSA then the room exists, hahahaha!!

nothing if she lacks a basic knowledge of how this information is _very_ interested to spammers, insurance companies, car sellers, cell phone carriers, everyone that has something to sell to her and treat her as a "lead".

"I think the smartest guys are those who do not get much news coverage, make decent money silently without growing too big, and not being too small"

no spread news about the site, lots of money, small userbase --- is this even possible??? if yes, please give an example of a working site.

Thanks for the good word! I always learn when coding.

I was actually surprised how simple Bing API was to implement! Painless! (feel awkward right now giving so much benefit to MS, LOL!)

With the logo, I used Bing-like font with obvious Google colors. But I will put some more thoughts into it. I think main Google logo haven't changed since ever (the only thing they added was a shade).

"Filter in a result site" -- can you shortly elaborate, please??

Thanks for your input!
