In other words, the US gov will simply put all the debt onto the public, as usual.

But we now have trillionaires, aren't you happy about that? It means you might be the one some day too /s
Nebula by Slack is also a decent player in this company.
So, we live in the economy where everything is done by labour that receive minimal acceptable wages, while all the profits are collected by the ruling class who do nothing except constantly kissing each other asses.
Since Trump is in charge, there is a high chance that this global stock market casino can go bankrupt as well. He is having a hand of Midas that works in reverse.
My purpose was to say that humans might not be capable enough to see what's there beyond just rocks and gases. Actually, this should be a popular view, because, according to modern theory, the observable universe accounts for only 5% of its mass, with the rest consisting of dark matter and dark energy.
It is hard to estimate how much human egocentrism takes in the space, though.
And BTW, ants are quite capable of understanding their environment in order to survive and thrive.
the rest of the universe thus far is just uncaring rocks and gases
This is probably what ants think about humans when they run through their feet.
This blog post clearly targets VCs, but what they are doing is legit and can improve the performance of local models on low-end hardware as well, especially since their priority is to optimize non-batched inference.
The fact that users are using more search queries means they can't find what they want with a lesser number of queries. It seems that Google's PR team doesn't have an incentive to understand that, or thinks that everyone else is stupid.
The intention is to kill the web in its current form, obviously. If only 1/3 of their users have left, then it is still a win for them in the long run, as they will gain the fraction of content they directly supply to users. Singularity is here and it's spreading faster than a cancer.
Well, this is what's happening in the stock market with the insider trading, pump and dump schemes, shorting and many more algorithms that utilize power imbalance to extract more capital for decades.
Polymarket is quite tame in comparison, in my opinion.
Dude, try not eating for a week and then publish your humble opinion on how good any change is.
We are approaching the pinnacle of "privatize the profits, socialize the costs". No wonder the US is ruled by the straight fascists today.
The story of Flash Attention is the best manifestation of power and difficulty of GPU programming. This page gives a nice overview of it https://aiwiki.ai/wiki/flash_attention
You can also write CUDA kernels directly in Julia using CUDA.jl. I basically learned CUDA programming by experimenting in Julia with the help of LLMs.
The paper https://eprint.iacr.org/2025/1296
You can also use Julia. It is both easy for humans to write and read and for AI to generate because of the sane and powerful type system.
However, I expect that in the future some new language will take this role of dual use.
Yes, and it's already in many places where possible, e.g. taxi, airlines, online stores and services, insurance, health, etc.
Trump is a demented alpha male that currently runs a circus too. This is what really poorly understood.
What are we even building?
Caste of trillionaiers who could destroy nations and cultures simply because they feel so.
Everyone would have equal access to the ultimate means of production.
You are right that AI can be a fully democratized commodity. The problem is that the current wealth inequality is not the result of AI. Musk became a trillion seeking oligarch not because of AI. It is because the entire financial system is designed to extract wealth from everyone and concentrate at the top. Democratic AI is not in their interest. There will be violence, but not because AI is supposedly a catalyst of inequality. It will be violence from the rich towards the poor, because democratic AI is not acceptable for them.
It increases GDP. Also, have you seen the Dow?
these platforms algorithmically search for personalities they can abuse, rob, and financially destroy
With the AI progress, there will be no need in a search for personalities - algorithms will make you one. And this can be applied to any company producing entertainment (e.g. social networks), not just gambling.
> Is this market manipulation?
No
"No" is not exactly the right answer, the authors are explicit about this in the paper:
"We the authors attest that at the time of the initial arXiv and IACR ePrint publication of this article, none of us hold any short positions against any cryptocurrency assets. Some of us hold long positions in cryptocurrencies, including some that involve the use of post-quantum cryptography. The authors reserve the right to initiate any positions in these assets in the future."
The world runs on legacy software, which simply has no budget for even asking LLMs to find vuls, not to mention fixing them. While you are right that it should favor the defenders, in practice, this is a disaster because, in many critical cases, there are no defenders.
I'm also sure that someone at Google do care about those. It is strange to see a blog post targeting cryptocurrencies while it is certainly a specific case of a much larger problem.
As I've said, facts or meaning no longer matter. There are numerous cases where Trump blamed Democrats for something he did during his first term or took credit for something positive that the Biden administration did. HN does not create a narrative, people are free to post their opinions here.
Why do they care about cryptocurrencies but not about the entire world's infrastructures that are based on RSA and elliptic curve algorithms, such as HTTPS and many other electronic signature solutions? Is this a case of cryptocurrency market manipulation?
And why do they think that the US government would care about securing cryptocurrencies? Aren't they designed to circumvent the government regulation?
The current administration has created a narrative that everything they do is good, while anything their opponents do is bad. Facts or meaning do not matter any more. I honestly don't understand how the USA has become this. This won't end well.
It is by design. How else can you make trillionaires?
