1. He's not fighting Ruby Central anymore, he'd be fighting the Ruby core team.

2. He's going to have a tough time asserting copyright on a name he didn't come up with on a project which shipped v1 before he joined.

3. If he believes the trademark belongs to the community, the right thing to do would be to transfer it to Ruby Core then, right?

Seems like a few old scores are being settled during this drama. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people on the side of RubyGems are avoiding commenting in case any legal disputes play out.

Something I've observed as an English speaking immigrant is that in general, the US/UK is very forgiving when it comes to foreigners trying to speak English. Where certain types of phrasing and harsh words would not be tolerated with first language English speakers, the benefit of the doubt is given to 2nd/3rd language speakers because they

1. Might not have the vocabulary to express themselves correctly

2. Not understand the nuance and connotations that their word choices imply

None of the scenarios you listed above are unit tests, which I believe is what the OP and the post was referring to.

From the blog post, it sounded like their benchmark relied heavily on a gem with a C extension (nokogiri). It's hard to imagine a performance improvement on code that YJIT has no control over.

This type of problem seems to be the exact reason why Object Orientated programming was developed in the first place. Whenever I'm repetitively passing arguments from one method to another, I usually find an object hiding in plain sight.

What I can't understand is that The Onion's YouTube channel[1] has 2.5 million subscribers and a billion views. You'd think they be able to do something with that amount of eyeballs.

You're effectively describing the "Parable of the broken window". Solar panels and the systems to run them now represent a significant outlay by businesses and some private individuals. You have to understand that async programming is hard, and no matter how good the tooling is, it's going to make your code more difficult to manage. It has a high price.
