That’s how Jack writes to everyone (and comms drafts his announcements true to his style)

I can second this recommendation. Matt’s team at UAB helped collect and analyze the latest research and suggest clinical treatments for my son’s rare genetic variant. It’s free and they were great to work with.

HIFI | https://hi.fi/ | Senior Full-Stack Engineer | REMOTE (US Only) | Full-Time

HIFI is a venture-backed team of technologists and industry veterans building the financial rights organization for the music industry.

Music royalties flow through dozens of opaque and fragmented sources, making it difficult for artists to track and manage their income. This lack of transparency has created an environment of confusion and disillusionment for musicians. We’re building innovative technologies that provide critical financial and business insights for our members to help them make better decisions.

HIFI's flagship product connects to each royalty paying organization, aggregating disparate earnings into a single dashboard and transforming irregular royalty streams into a consistent monthly payment. We’re looking for a self-motivated Senior Full-Stack Engineer with a proven track record to create frictionless experiences for our members.

In this role, you will lead the development of our React Native Mobile App and the GraphQL Server that the app communicates with – connecting it to an array of backend services that integrate with our music industry partners. You will collaborate with your product, engineering and design colleagues to build delightful user interfaces that power our innovative artist solutions.

We are obsessed with helping artists, rights holders, and our music industry partners flourish; you should be too.

We believe that diversity and inclusion is critical to the success of our organization and the music industry as a whole. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply for this position.

Whether ASD is a disease or illness is still out for debate [0].

What most seem to agree on is that “Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) refers to a group of complex neurodevelopment disorders [1].”

Is a disorder a disease? While the terms are often used interchangeably by us laymen, the DSM-5 distinguishes the two [2].

We’re building a business management and financial services platform for music creators and rightsholders. Our stack is GCP, Elixir, Typescript and React Native.

Feel free to email me at the address in my profile. Would be happy to chat.

I was there too. I remember being disappointed that PG came all that way just to tell us all to move to the Bay Area.

IIRC, he went so far as to say that NYC would never be able to offer the community and serendipity of being surrounded by so many fellow entrepreneurs. And that NYC was too tainted by its banking culture and the drive to make money.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. NYC has come a long way!

ChristopherM, this mirrors my journey/experience as well.

I never took diet quite seriously and dismissed most anecdotal connections between gluten, grains, sugar, etc. and health.

But at 40 yrs old, and after nearly two years on an autoimmune paleo and anti-fungal diet, I've never felt better.

I wish more people suffering with autoimmune conditions were aware of this natural approach to healing and recovery.

My doctor in NYC was the first to bring to my attention the emerging link between autoimmune disease and microorganisms. After 20 years of managing with medicine and hitting rock bottom 2 years ago, he encouraged me to consider drastically altering my diet.

I started eating autoimmune-paleo (like the author) and anti-fungal. The improvement has been dramatic and life changing. I'm now off all medication. I still have a bad day every now and then, and I may need to revisit the meds at some point down the road. But I'll tell ya, after years of feeling hopeless, it's amazing to take control and regain some sense of normalcy.

If you haven't examined your diet, I would strongly encourage you to do so.

Please feel free to reach out to me using the email address in my profile. That goes for anyone here.

After suffering from digestive and autoimmune issues since adolescence, and having a very difficult 2015 (in and out of hospitals), I took the bold step of drastically altering my diet. I've been sugar free, grain free, soy free, alcohol free and dairy free (save for soft goat cheese and Greek yogurt) for 1.5 yrs now. It wasn't an easy adjustment to make, but I was at rock bottom. The improvement has been dramatic and life altering.

409A valuations apply to Common Stock, which lack the preferences associated with Preferred Stock (usually sold to investors). As a result, Common Stock is typically priced at a significant discount. It's most certainly in an early stage startup's best interest to keep the Common Stock price low, because it offers more flexibility when incentivizing team members.

83(b) election still applies to any early exercise of stock options subject to vesting. An important detail that is often overlooked.

I was recruited to join Microsoft a while back. At the end of the 8hr day of interviews, the VP formally offered me the job. However, he made a point of mentioning his concern that I dropped out of college, twice. Being a cocky young buck at the time, I in turn pointed out that the founder and (then) Chairman of his company, Bill Gates, was a dropout. He explained to me that there were exceptions to every rule, which was why he was extending the opportunity, but in his experience, college was akin to bootcamp. If I couldn't get through 4 years of doing what I was told, how could he be sure I would do what I was told at Microsoft? I drove back to the hotel, phoned the internal recruiter and declined the offer.

He was on to something, of course. But I'd already known that I march to the beat of my own drum.

Same issue with our hi.fi. Facebook's JavaScript SDK wouldn't write cookies to it, instead rejecting it as too short and invalid. Had to open a ticket and the oversight was corrected, with lots of embarrassment and apologizing.

Thought this was worth shooting your way:

CrossFit NYC, which I started as a side project ten years back, has since grown into the largest CrossFit gym in the world (by a factor of three).

It's a big enough opportunity that I'm making CrossFit my main focus for the next 18-24 months, taking a leave from Outlier to essentially build up the Equinox of CrossFit.

We're raising a $5m growth round, and are pursuing both an equity roll-up strategy (we just acquired our smartest two competitors in NYC), and aggressively opening new spaces (we've locked deals for awesome 18,000sqft foot locations at 42nd & Lex, Broadway & Fulton, and Spring & 6th Ave, to open throughout 2015).

Given our traction / track record / unique position, this is coming together fast; we already have the first $2.5m locked down, and we should close out the rest within a couple weeks. Deck attached. Would love to have you in,

j
