in systems level programming (the introductory course before operating systems in our university) this was one of the first misconceptions to be eradicated. you cannot trust malloc to return null.

my first instinct would be to let the triggerline move with the scrollposition, i.e. at scrollTop = 0 the triggerline is at 0vh and at scrollTop=max at 100vh... am i missing something?

dont know whether that works on apple or not - but i just paste into an unformatted textbox (e.g. browser address bar) and copy again from there

that's exactly the thing I'm trying to avoid. since I really don't need windows very often I prefer to change win-vms like underpants (allowing me to deactivate defender/winupdates fearless) and would not like to spend hours for setting up win from scratch. I had to set up win11 for a friend a few days ago and - let me tell you - that experience sucked hard

clicking the link all the text seems to restyle multiple times - the fontsize seems to flash 'bigger' at least twice before settling. looks very unsettling.

I don't know where you're from, but here in austria most banks offer 'cardTAN' as an alternative to mobileTAN. I always assumed cardTAN is a thing everywhere...

edit: with cardTAN you get a OTP/TAN 'calculator' into which you put your smartcard to generate TANs on the fly.

I use it because to me this feels more like a real second factor, when I use my mobile for banking.
