Thanks, but sarcasm aside, I was going on the premise of a far smaller share (<5%) for an innovative technology. I can see what everyone is saying though, seems like a bad idea. I'll just keep trying to flog it to investors.

From the point of vew of graduate jobs, becoming a dev in Quant or Algo is definitely a pretty high paid start in line with other IB Front Office (£50k ish). That said, I don't know how well Google pays grad software engineers.

Thanks, that was really useful. Another basic thing I was wondering about was User Management (i.e. getting users to sign up, assigning password protected dirs etc). From browsing around there seems to be some good scripts but are there any classic recommended solutions that would be easy to integrate and allow payments etc.

In my experience, there is a placebo in this delusional sense of elitism that galvanises your belief in being able to achieve literally anything. At your disposal are unrivalled resources, networks, prestige and financial backing that make it much easier to succeed.

Thank you, and I completely agree if I was aiming to be the next eBay execution would be absolutely paramount. However, my (working) prototype is inherently novel and specific to the extent that there is limited scope for messing up the execution, and as a corollary there is a limited number of ways in which you would use/consume it. Sorry to be vague but I'll release more info one of these days once I figure out where to go with it!
