Eh. As a counter point.

I live in Montana, have a degree in an unrelated field but still work on IOT projects.

I work mostly from home or private office and have never needed to drive for course of work.

Not sure how you exist in Montana without driving.

If you’d like to move into that field, it’s certainly not easy but it is possible.

I gave away some broken tools on Craigslist once and had a similar experience. 2 people showed up really happy, one was entitled. Didn’t really scare me off though.

1) that was fun. The explanations next to each parameter are helpful to know what each slider modifies.

2) the way you advertise your app and ask for feedback is welcoming. It feels honest.

Leadership is about getting people from point a to point b. Generally to do that you need trust, a good idea of where point a,b are, and what the path between them looks like.

Age is a component of trust, but only a small one and very dependent on the situation.

If you want to be leading someone who has more experience than you, best be sure you have trust and a rock solid understanding of the path you need to be on.

If there is more capacity available, people will use it.

For instance, I happily stream videos and FaceTime over cellular quite a bit now. Even though I was plenty happy without that capability and don’t really mind when the cell service isn’t good enough for it to work.

Entropy is only kinda about probability.

How can we talk about the uncertainty of a system that is in a single, well known, predictable state.

The system we are usually talking about is orders of magnitude larger than the uncertainty. Think a liter of gasoline in an engine vs the position of a single atom. While we might not know the trajectory of the atom, we have a pretty good idea how the collective atoms that make up the gasoline will function.

Yeah, I flew between 4 different states last week. Montana, Washington, California & Minnesota. Definitely very regional, even between Orange County and LA for instance.

Some places are full sit down at the bar is acceptable (no masks) vs. getting kicked out of a take-out joint for not wearing a mask (Los Angles).

You’re on the right track. Find a different job where they respect your projects and move on. You don’t really have much leverage right now as your current place doesn’t have much inventive to change their policy and doesn’t seem to respect your requests.

Advanced microscopes can distinguish individual atoms. This is relatively trivial if you have the correct setup. Search atomic force microscope and HOPG (highly ordered pyrolytic graphene).

This wasn’t the correct setup though to do that. Presumably the reason you can see a single atom is because there is only one present, ie if there was a second one next to it you wouldn’t necessarily be able to see the difference in the photograph.

I sit on my phone all the time, take it in the shower, frequently drop it(on accident). So I guess the price of the phone doesn’t factor too much into how I physically treat it.

Regarding the back pocket, it’s just easier and a matter of personal preference.

I worked for a while on a team that designed an electron microscope from scratch. There was a phenomenal amount of work to take it from a bench top kluge that sometimes takes an image to a reliable product.

When designing sensitive instruments we had to use almost a paranoid attention to detail.

I have a brand new iPhone and the cable that is included with the phone connects directly to my 2019 MacBook Pro.
