Jennifer Bartashus, a senior analyst with Bloomberg Intelligence, agrees. “Because it’s a young industry and because there’s a lot of volatility, you’re going to have times that go up and down. But when you look at the long-term, I think there’s been a fundamental shift in how people think about their health.”
"I'm going to get my meat from Box A instead of Box B from now on"
Yeah what a fascinating paradigm shift.
Yakuza are criminals sure, but it's similar to mafia. They are not murdering randoms, harming the public, they are not giving drugs to children(mostly), there are codes among these kinds of criminal groups that are probably more dignified than government laws. They are entrepreneurs and they realized they make more money with legit businesses than by getting kids on meth. They are just normal men who don't want to pay taxes, essentially.
See; While many Yakuza syndicates, notably the Yamaguchi-gumi, officially forbid their members from engaging in drug trafficking, some other Yakuza syndicates, notably the Dojin-kai, are heavily involved in it.
Must be nice to live in a place where your police are so bored, having such low crime rates in a homogeneous, high-trust society, that they have to do petty stuff like this to earn their paycheck.
Don't forget, you're here forever.
If no one is special in this case, then who is your boss and why are you his subordinate?
I didn't enjoy the game because it was basically just guess work.
A lot of the seemingly bizarre headlines are perfectly capable of being real in this clownworld, nevertheless, great presentation!
yes it's easier to get one in highschool when you're young and she hasn't been jaded by 10 guys before you. plus getting comfortable talking to women is something that happens over a long period of exposure.
lots of rich well off nerds here have absolutely no charisma and the only women they'll get are gold diggers or foreigners who want a green card, unfortunately. so you have a load of nerd regret.
nice thanks for sharing!

The goal of this book is to document commonly-known and lesser-known methods of doing various tasks using only built-in bash features. Using the snippets from this bible can help remove unneeded dependencies from scripts and in most cases make them faster.
This is a super job for an aggregate! I wish I used you as an example in my failed thread a while ago; https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30296889
I'm working on my own with a social community aspect attached allowing users to comment on these items, similar to HN.
There's Valve who really made a name for themselves with their unique hiring, they look for generalist problem solvers who are also specialized in one small thing. You could research their philosophy itself and try to find who else is applying it that way, or you could apply to them directly!
This gets posted a lot from their handbook: https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ac3a7d7a726bc40bf8792aef45...
Get out of your comfort zone. Seek out awkwardness, and anxiety, and revel in the uncomfortable. That's how you learn to not give a fuck. Do things that would bring you shame, grin and bare it. After awhile none of it applies anymore.
how does making fun of these parasites "validate" them? and who cares? they suck, everyone knows they suck. that's what PARASITES DO.
"I don't care that they stole my idea. I care that they don't have any of their own."
It seems silly trying to compare yourself to Musk or any other top dog. A lot of people are content just mastering their own little corner, providing for a family, contributing to their communities. That's success, a startup just gives you more control on what corner and what communities you want to be involved in.
I remember an old forum, you could pay money to change members avatars, ban them for a week, change their user title, username, etc.
'Smart' generally implies that it can do something on it's own.
I want to crop an image, I give it parameters for how I want the outputted, cropped image. If I use a smart crop function, I expect it to use some engineering magic to determine where the activity is happening in the image, and making it's own estimated crop.
Probably none of them will, these squatters make me sick.
PS: how does one find a good domain name?
brute force checking thousands of examples till you find one that isn't squatted.
Sweet. I got a suggestion though, it's too "red". it's kind of hard to distinguish different parts of the layout, different content. since it's all red.
add blue and black backgrounds in places for some punch and emphasis.
I think your main focus should be socializing with your peers so you can network once you get out of school. Which you have been doing already, so honestly I think you are going to be fine getting a job once you get out.
Your peers and the students are way more important than your teachers, IMO. You can build businesses with the students, the teacher is just guiding you through a book course.
edit; be the guy who knows everyones skills and talents and partners people up who would be interested in working together? the guy who "knows everyone"
hotkeys that launch dmenu instances displaying various text items. handling all the dmenu stuff is simple bash scripts using core utils; sed, grep, cut.
dmenu is a fast and lightweight dynamic menu for X. It reads arbitrary text from stdin, and creates a menu with one item for each line. [0]
When I use the following hotkeys, a dmenu list pops up at the top of my screen, I can type into it with fuzzy search and select an item.
alt+h - history - my last 30 clipboard contents are shown, when i choose one, it's added to the clipboard
alt+c - commands - descriptions of frequently used commands, appended with the utility name, choosing one adds to my clipboard [1]
alt+f - functions - random scripts / workflows that i want to launch without adding to .local/bin
alt+d - dmenu - and of course, using dmenu itself as my programs launcher, as it was intended. launches instantly, searches all my programs instantly, it's really all i'll ever need.
probably the people who are interested in keeping us all docile practicing escapism, consumption and hedonism in the first place - meta... perpetrated the "pandemic". Or they all mingle in the same pools and benefit from the same direction society has taken. The Klaus Schwab "You will own nothing and you will like it" seems eerily similar to what FB is proposing.

No. Same thing with cloning. It's not you. You just created some other entity with your ego that will benefit forever from your decision. (as well as whatever corporation is doing it) But it ain't you, babe.
Fascism for me, democracy for thee.
as white teenagers, we’d had it comparatively easy.
