This title should have a (2019) on it. But I was happy to see this pop up again here, as it’s an increasingly possible and compelling UX for AI agents, where the rest of the chrome and complexity of computing is stripped away to the core actions we really need out of the software we use. I hope they give this a fresh look and try building it. Lindy looks like a close attempt

It is happening now, which is one of the points of this piece. Apple has been laying the groundwork bit by bit since 2019, but there’s also lots of AR today, just not in “the metaverse” sense as discussed here quite yet. Snapchat filters, AirTags and UWB, and Google Lens are some of the most popular examples right now. Anything that adds a digital layer to the physical world via a computing device, is AR.

Thanks for linking. I was hoping it had some kind of sea urchin-style mouth that ate up the roots of the weeds, but it's just a tiny weed wacker underneath. Still cute

5G is on the way, and will enable this stuff anywhere. MWC had tons of demos of 4k, multiplayer, and VR games streaming via 5G. A lot depends on how/when/if it's all rolled out, but unless you're currently 194 years old, it's gonna be a lot sooner than you think.

Lots of opportunities to work on large scale projects on some of the worlds largest adult sites. I'm a new PM on the team, found the job through HN, and can answer questions about the process and team. My team specifically needs a Senior PHP Developer and Marketing, but many teams working on lots of cool stuff with ML, VR, crypto, and more!

Some open roles:

Hard to recall the onboarding experience, typical FB really. They seem to load in a lot of team/job profile stuff so you can easily connect with your own dept and teams. The UX is very similar to consumer FB, though they've lost some stuff and added others. Not a lot of third party integrations, but events and notes, as well as markdown support. Messaging is convenient, but not as capable as Slack. We share release notes, interesting articles, photos from events and stuff, and end up getting a lot of bug reports through it. Sadly, we've lately used private groups as a way to collect photos and parting words for people leaving the company.

That's a good point: does the bandwidth reach the native performance of another computer? Can a commodity phone/tablet stream much better performance?

As someone still only dreaming of gigabit speeds, I'm having a hard time conceptualizing what that kind of speed can enable. Higher resolution video/VR, sure, but is there more? Is there a game changing use case that opens up when that kind of speed is available everywhere?

Good PM interviews I've been in use that as part of the discussion. Discuss the issues with the messaging on the website, ask for clarification where needed to understand the customer and problem, and go from there. You shouldn't just focus on the current as currently exists, but the core problem/vision they're going for.

I feel like this would be a major blow and failure on Apple's part if this team that they already acquired was bought by a competitor. I wonder what happened that led to this not being a new version of Siri.
