Condo rental pool is a term I've never come across before.
What rental pool service did you use?
Exactly
Apollo's founder isn't even trying to sustain his business.
Good call out. It's like the business equivalent of:
You changed the rules of the game because you didn't like how I played. So I'm not even going to bother playing with the new rules. I retire.
I wouldn't take it personally
You know the real circumstances
True hurtful one-stars is a rival who's mad at your book release
And got their buddies to spam the system w/ garbage reviews
The customer that gives a $.25 tip on bad service
Hurtful garbage yes
But still a gift
I saw a poll once re: 5-star rating systems:
Roughly 50% tolerate or like them The other 50% completely hate them
Will Karat be around after the AI revolution?
I wouldn't be surprised if an OpenAI + Zoom solution makes Karat obsolete.
I, for one, won't shed any tears. I've wasted too much time conducting interviews. I'd like to have more time to focus on work.
I use Zoho for email along with https://workspace.google.com/essentials/
Works beautifully
I do miss Gmail, but it's easy to workaround it
gregw134 nailed it
I talked to a friend about what's she's seeing inside Google right now and the amount of corporate and cultural dysfunction is shocking. Politics, games, entitlement, and decreased productivity.
Is there a company that's more dysfunctional?
Agreed. The level of naysaying on Bing + GPT (along with ChatGPT) is absurd.
One CEO (and company) has joy. The other one does not.
I know which one I'd rather join.
they have a wider pool from which to choose
This goes both ways for employer and employee
Can you elaborate on these "two really good ones?"
What did they do that made them so special?
Unfortunately I don't think it's that easy.
That is, the cat is out of the bag:
ChatGPT not only showed us the power of AI, but it showed us a bunch of non-AI things like:
- Ad-free results - Clutter-free results - The elegance of not having to click on links
A competitor could capitalize on this, putting Google's ad-driven, click-driven, clutter-driven model at serious risk.
Can you ask your boss to expense it?
This is definitely tone deaf.
Who cares if you were held the lead in the first leg of the marathon?
All that matters is who's in the lead now and who's in the lead at the finish.
I doubt it. It feels more like the end of an era.
All the so called "cool" technologies from FAANG names in the last 15 years have lost its luster.
There's a new set of companies that are ready to take over. The most obvious ones to fall to the wayside are the ones threatened by ChatGPT and TikTok.
Who knew tech could be trendy?
Yes, there's an opportunity cost to society.
That overhired person who's not productive in Google could have done something better for society.
While companies backing out sucks, this is a downward spiral.
If companies get wind of candidates doing this in mass, they can escalate the game even further.
That is, make offers to candidates and continue to shop for better candidates, knowing they can just pull the rug from the first set.
This game will be lose-lose.
Same thing with these super generous severance packages.
3 months, 4 months...
Companies in the US don't have to give any.
It wouldn't surprise me if the gap begins to reverse.
The earlier comment about competent plumbers making more than doctors in Slovenia; I can believe that.
It's the white collar compensation inversion.
That's overreading the situation.
Employees are exhausted and their employers were only one part of the equation.
COVID and other personal issues are the others.
Thanks to healthy savings accounts, many people could afford to quit their jobs. Quitting wasn't 100% the employer's fault.
It's a good prototype, but not super impressed with the output. It seems like a rehash of ChatGPT and assignment of generic stock photos.
For this to really take off, it should include collaborative bot editing -- that is, ask the bot to change slide #2 with several iterations.
It feels like Notion AI is just building on top of OpenAI's GPT.
It makes me wonder: is their value created by GPT front ends like Notion AI and Jasper?
ChatGPT seems like a superior and more flexible front end. I wouldn't want to pay for Notion AI or Jasper post-ChatGPT.
I was seriously considering a Model 3 for my new car, but I'm so glad I passed.
On the Model 3 subrreddit there are endless post about reliability including ones I never thought would be an issue.
Some recent ones include driver side mirror housing falling off and snowing entering the trunk compartment.
The destination is the same, but the speed is different.
The next 3 to 8 years will have a bunch of companies like Evernote: "They're still around? I thought they died a long time ago."
Content creation is exceedingly difficult.
Content creators are typically a one-hit wonder. They usually move on and do other things in life.
And the shelf life of a one-hit wonder is so short. Technologies change, so the content needs to be updated. And content can easily be copied by other content creators.
This is a good reminder of Google's advertising economies of scale.
It doesn't surprise me that Twitch is struggling. TikTok could suffer the same fate as Twitch: their payouts aren't as good as YouTube (Shorts) on a per view basis. The only thing that's keeping TikTok in the game is their reach. Once reach hits parity, I wouldn't be surprised if TikTok succumbs to YouTube.
