can't assume gaussian underlying distribution of the word-knowing, it's known zipfian. so you can't be doing anovas or anything of that nature because if you look up zipfian distribution's variance, you get Nature and Reality giving you the middle finger

all mention of aekjeot (fish sauce) and saeujeot (tiny shrimp) seems to be elided here. kimchi in coastal regions (and most commercialized korean kimchi) has a strong tendency to have that in, so if you take grothendieck's recipe as is, you won't have the exported korean taste. northern kimchis have diverged materially in addition, due to north korea being fucked up. aekjeot you can just add but the procedure to add saeujeot traditionally is pretty fiddly

he mentions using whatever herbs he had in a european setting like juniper and rosemary but the canonical herb to add is korean chives and dropwort. never seen juniper or rosemary, frankly.

Bayesian inference is, to be overly simple, a way to write probabilistic if-statements and fit them from data. The "if" statement in this case is "if the bug is there...", and of course it's often the case that in actual software that if statement is probabilistic in nature. This thing does git bisect with a flaky bug with bayesian inference handling the flakiness to get you a decent estimate of where the bug is in the git history. It seems to be usable, or at least as usable as a Show HN thingy is expected to be.

Connectionist models have lots of theory by theoreticians explicitly pissed off about Chomsky's assertion that there is an inbuilt ability for language. Jay McClelland's office had a little corkboard thingy with Chomsky mockery on the side, for example. It seems folks want a working example. Here's one in prod:

Metabase is a BI tool, backend written mostly in Clojure. Like basically all BI tools they have this intermediate representation language thing so you write the same thing in "MBQL (metabase query language)" and it theoretically becomes same query in like, Postgres and Mongo and whatever. End user does not usually write MBQL, it's a service for the frontend querybuilding UI thing and lots of other frontend UI stuff mainly in usage.

Whole processing from MBQL -> your SQL or whatever is done via a buncha big-ass transducers. There's a query cache and lots of other stuff, you need state, but you also need it to be basically fast. Metabase is not materially faster than other BI tools (because all the other BI tools do something vaguely similar in their langs and because the limiting factor is still the actual query running in most cases) but it's pretty comparable speed and the whole thing was materially written by like 5 peeps.

People do not actually tell you the answer to a question like this. "Would you pay to use this new thing I made?" gets parsed into "are you a polite person and not inclined to shit on a complete stranger's work?" and you will never get a straight answer, in the same general vein as corporate feasibility studies basically seldom ever returning a 'no, this isn't feasible'. I recommend r. fitzpatrick's book "the mom test" about that subject.

After people reply (if they reply) to this thing, you will have learned nothing about whether people would actually pay for it. Go and learn that fact in actual viable ways.
