I highly doubt that all functionality will be a 1:1 port but most things should work. Win10 has all things to be a quality OS and it's "universal" approach might be a real hit which will force developers to take the platform more serious.

They have the SDKs available so it's up to Google and Apple to integrate...

Ideas are like aholes, everyone has (at least) one ;)

What do you have in mind? Do you want a new job somewhere else? Do you want to code any longer?

If you want to stay is software development you can maybe try to do some freelancing projects which will give you a nice change of pace with new clients. This is working awesome for me. I have a full time job but freelance as well in my free time.

Since he stepped down as CEO his influence was smaller and smaller so I think this is more a cosmetic change then anything else. Maybe the public perception of Microsoft will now move even more into the right direction.
