For me it was the same, but the cause was that the region was set to Germany. So language English, region Germany. After I set the region to the US, I was able to turn on Cortana. //Edit: The reason is probably because of what Maarten88 said.

You have the option to either create the USB/CD media or do an in-place upgrade. I did the in-place upgrade, which worked without problems for me. They also provide the option to either keep your apps and files or delete them. I chose to delete them, because I wanted a clean install.

I can confirm that. I didn't see anything about Windows 10 in the Windows Update window, but upgrading via the tool worked perfectly for me.

Maybe a hybrid approach could work? Automatically scroll down and to the right simultaneously. If I understood it correctly, the events in the timeline will go diagonally down. So if the scrolling happens intelligently by following the events, that should work, shouldn’t it?

Video-DownloadHelper[0] is also a good choice if you need to download videos often, and from different sources (e.g. blip.tv). However, it only works with Firefox. Jdownloader can also download Youtube Videos (and many others).

I am graduating in a few month and also applied for some jobs in the USA (I'm from germany). I found it somewhat intresting that every employer I sent my resume to was asking what gender and race(!) I was before I could submit. You could also choose the option not to give an answer, but I have never seen that in germany.

On the other hand some people on HN find it odd to have a picture of you on your CV - which is the norm here.

You could also try http://board.tv4user.de/ for german subtitles of many US/UK TV Shows. It's made for german users who understand little english but still want to see shows as soon as they come out (So the site itself is in german, but finding shows shouldn't be hard). The community is pretty great and very fast when a new episode comes out.

Great idea - It seems a lot of people already use TV Shows/Movies to learn English, as did I.

This reminded me when I was re-watching a few of my favorite TV Shows, were the Dub/Sub transitions as following from early to later seasons:

1) German Dub – No Subtitles

2) English Dub – German Subtitles

3) English Dub – English Subtitles

4) English Dub – No Subtitles

Interestingly I moved away from German and to English for most of the media I consume and watching German TV at a friend’s house actually sounds really foreign to me now.

I didn't get this error here, however I recieved the exact same error when I used my german "..@googlemail.com" mail address to register on appengine. After changing it to "..@gmail.com" it worked. If you are german, you could try that as well.

Well in the contract with my current employer, it pretty much states that every IP I create during my employment belongs to my employer. So if I wanted to create a project that I own, I would have to terminate my contract first. This is especially annoying being a Student and having many ideas all the time. Oh well.

I did so as well. I was fascinated that such a simple formula could produce an infinitely complex image. To build it, I used Lazarus/Freepascal and Wikipedia. It’s actually still hosted on Google code.

I'm wondering how this article compares to other countries. In Germany you don’t necessarily need to pay expensive medical bills, and Universities have either no fee at all, or a very small one (500 € per Semester usually).

So after getting a Bachelor’s degree, you can be pretty much debt free.

Is this then only a problem for the USA?

It seems like you really enjoy Ruby, that’s great to hear. I just started CS169.1x on edx, which will be using ruby as the language of choice, and have never touched ruby. (Except in the stripe ctf where I did not fully understand the code, just enough to progress to the next levels.) Now I'm even more excited to learn ruby!
