Bonterms | Founding Engineer | San Francisco, CA | Onsite | Full Time

Bonterms is hiring for Engineer #1 (Founding Engineer)! The person in this role will significantly shape the direction of our product and our team, and they'll be working closely with both co-founders.

Backed by XYZ Ventures and the Silicon Valley law firm Wilson Sonsini, Bonterms is transforming enterprise contracting. Startups and global enterprises alike use our open source Standard Agreements to engage in faster, more collaborative deal making. Our cloud platform will take the Bonterms approach to the next level with unique workflows that enable easy configuration, negotiation and execution of our Standard Agreements.

We're looking for a Founding Engineer to build and deploy our product. We have multiple brand name companies signed up as Build Partners who we plan to pilot with by early Q1 2023. The position is based in our San Francisco office (Financial District/Embarcadero).

Mention HN in the email and resume you send to hiring (at) bonterms.com. Full job description here: https://bonterms.com/jobs/founding-engineer/

From the article: "I think that time tracking deserves a try. A life is lived in hours. What we do with our lives will be a function of how we spend those hours, and we get only so many."

It's high-status to be busy. Time tracking, while useful for some, is more likely to be a way for people to play the status game.

Tufekci sounds quite pessimistic. This quote stuck out to me as representative:

"What I see hopeful is recognition that putting all this burden on the shoulders of every individual sounds great on paper, just have an informed citizenry who’s just going to spend half their time on Wikipedia and half their time sort of searching for fact checks, and being replaced by the fact that no you can’t do it that way because people cannot function that way."

This project is motivated by my desire to tailor a news feed that finds pieces I think are worth reading, those that prioritize storytelling and the weaving of ideas. No day-to-day breaking news or clickbait. I thought the HN community would find the article curation of interest.

On the technical side, I used this project to play around with scikit-learn for machine learning and NLTK for NLP. Also, BeautifulSoup is awesome.

I'm aware this site does not conform to the ideal of progressive enhancement -- I'm learning server-side rendering :) Please be kind.
