Growing up I was always astounded by how fast my Mother could take notes and remember so many details based on what looked like a bunch of crazy scribbles to me. I had always wanted to learn it but never took the time as I got older. Might be something worth checking out.

I was thinking the same thing while reading through this essay. I know the firm he works for (A16Z) is investing in the cryptocurrency area and even just did a podcast[0] on it.

I haven't had home internet in well over five years and it is absolutely fantastic. I did it while in school so I could focus on getting reading and homework done and found that I really enjoyed it. I still use a smartphone but will leave it in another room if I want to read or focus on something other than tech.

I have re-read this book constantly since purchasing it well over 10 years ago. The chapters on facing resistance and how to deal with it constantly resonate with me when working on my own projects.

I just ordered this book from Amazon a few days ago after constantly reading recommendations to read it. I am looking forward to cracking it open.

Have you read Market Wizards by Jack Schwager? Fantastic book and it really goes deep with how these traders think about approaching and exiting a trade/market.

You could always use Yahoo Finance or Marketwatch for a quick overview of the financial statements of publicly traded companies.

I went back for the first time in ten years about a year ago and was surprised at how much downtown has changed. I also went back during ArtPrize which is very overwhelming. I have never seen so many people in downtown GR at one time in my life. Also, some of the new breweries there are great. But I still refuse to go back and visit during the cold months. Like you, there is no way I could survive a winter there.

I also grew up in GR and moved to Seattle a little over 16 years ago. Reading the term "lake effect" cracked me up since it has been so long since I last heard it. Have you been back recently at all? Downtown has a bit more going on but wouldn't want to move back at all. Those winters are brutal.

I took this course last year and loved it. As a self taught developer as well, these videos really helped me understand some concepts that I still hadn't wrapped my head around yet.
