It seriously lacked what discussion happens in a Product Review or Design Review internally (ideally) at a company.

amusing that the studios do all this work in contracts to make sure they have rights as long as they possibly can and then they forget to take care of the physical media
Could you make it any more obvious that you're trying to replace me?
This is exactly how companies get sucked into the quarterly chase of Wallstreet. Facebook shouldn't be concerned and neither should you.
the statement is just as lost as the retailers are on facebook.
This whole thing reeks of failure. Win because you promise more? That sounds like a government project.
Who will care when my Google's self driving car is the norm?
Yeah, the model is broken, but what do we do? Bail out the model. We shouldn't outlaw the model. We should let the stupid models fail and be replaced by smarter, more accurate, more legit models.
Do you see VCs loaning $$ to entreprenuers to buy a home in the US for a visa?
I'm still amazed by how many students go to schools out of state to get the same quality of education that they can get in state for often a quarter of the cost or less.
Patent trolls are not new and have been around for as long as capitalism has. They are an essential and useful function of the market. The only reason they've come to light is that the industry moves so quickly now and the legal system around patents does not.
So they significantly change the scoring scheme in 2004/2005 and scores are different now! WOW!
Google is hiring like mad. How hard is it really to get an interview?
And a huge reason is risk, scale and performance.
There was a good article linked on HC that was full of quotes from founders who were acquired. The difference between a startup experimenting with a new feature and a corporation is that if you F up it only affects a small number of people. For a corporation, an error could be millions of people affects and tens or hundreds of millions of dollars lost.
Management consulting is very different than technology consulting. Accenture, IBM, Deloitte, CapGemini: these are the kind of firms that compete against each other for enterprise tech projects.
Being part of a large organization, the organization gives you the answer. It may or may not totally work for you, but you working for a profit-making MACHINE. Successful companies learn to indoctrinate(willing) their employees. A good employee at any company should be able to rattle of why they are there and what the companies believes in. The only difference for a corporation is that there are a lot of people using the same answer :)
There are quite a few interesting possibilities with Google coming in. The 3rd largest stock exchange, BATS, is based in Lenexa, KS. As others mentioned, Sprint is located in a suburb. Cerner, the largest healthcare IT company, is rapidly expanding into KCK. Garmin is in Olathe. KCMO has has a lot of biomedical firms and research firms including Stowers Institute, TEVA, etc. Kauffman Foundation has been pushing local startups more and more.
A lot of this though is beyond 2012 and would only be connected with an expansion of the fiber network. KCK has a NASCAR track, an MLS Stadium, Minor League Baseball Stadium, an outdoor mall and some factories...
Dumb question. It is a short sighted question. This same question exists in most fields. Why aren't there more women fill_in_the_blank?
Why aren't there more women engineers? Why aren't there more women politicians? Why aren't there more women programmers? Why aren't there more women executives?
Women's interests and their own culture, from childhood to college, drive them to the occupations they want.
