Agree with this. He originally was taking the opinion that they should make changes to the App Store rules from a position of strength before being forced into it. Schiller has always felt like the best embodiment of the Steve Era. I think they would have lost Tim Cook if he didn't get the CEO position, but Apple has been a little too focused on extracting as much value as possible during his time. They are still doing great stuff, but feel focused on the wrong things.

It give you the behaviours needed to implement a UI component, but it doesn’t give you any styling.

This research seems contrived at best. It compares strong coloured action element's to weakly coloured action element's. It just so happens that the element's on the weakly coloured version's are also using flat design. The major element here is colour.

The "research" is designed to give a certain result. If they wanted to test flat versus 3d, everything should be the same except for whether the elements are 3d or flat.

Flat design is not about using less colour to signify action. It is a lack of 3d and skeuomorphic design.

Hopefully the camera and battery life have had major improvements. They were my major annoyances with the Nexus 5, everything else was great.

Interesting. I always thought of "Full-stack" developers from a web perspective being capable of coding from the client to the server. Never thought of them being devs that do ops also.

Like most things in life, I feel like a sense of balance is the most important thing to be aware of. Jumping into code too quickly is just as bad as trying to design the perfect system from your head.

From what I have seen Lift performs much better than Rails except in the benchmarks where there were errors running the tests.

Thanks for the reply Jed, yeah I understand your decisions and some of the advantages of going with CoffeeScript. I will definitely keep an eye on the project going forward. Just a quick thought:

- Maybe better syntax highlighting of the core elements on the website might help with new potential users.

Interesting idea, but I just don't like the implementation. Just a few points that jump out for me.

- The all CAPS make me feel it will be a pain to type. - The CSS looks more verbose than SASS or LESS. The STYLE keyword each time seems like needless repetition. - I feel like the HTML templating is less readable than plain HTML or Slim or such tempting engines.

Just my thoughts, I would love to know what others think.

Funny post… Github is built on git. Usually whoever is running a project sets up the protocols for contributing. So any confusion over the send-email versus pull-request is a bit over blown. I have watched experienced devs struggle to come to terms with Git. Github makes the transition easier. Then piece by piece they investigate how to use Git properly.

Why do these posts show up after major funding happens. Is it because Github is now not the plucky underdog?

I was reading this article with an open mind until the SIRI issue was brought up. This is because the groups involved were not listing themselves as abortion providers, but as family planning clinics. Siri can't read minds (yet!). It makes me question the motivation behind the article.

I think everyone realizes that there are far too few women in technology. The thing is "brogrammers" are not at fault here. Girls being pushed a particular way in school is. It is a larger cultural issue.

I will be the first to say that 'brogrammers' or whatever seem a little like dumbasses, but people need to stop taking themselves so seriously and get a sense of humor, aswell.

In my experience females in tech are celebrated.

This to me isn't a gender related issue, but a small general issue being blown out of proportion.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to whoever gets it. To the armchair critics of the design. Maybe, this is why they will need a designer.

People need to get over this. Milk originally said that they would try a series of experiments, that would be killed if the required traction wasn't there.

We will see what happens with their next effort.
