I mean, we're not talking about a hosted service here. Albeit not OSS, the client is free, API stable, fully functional offline, and very extensible. Even if Obsidian the company went away, the latest version of the app would continue to work and you would still own your data.

10.05% of all domains listed on Spamhaus’s Domain Blocklist...are on Cloudflare nameservers

Not defending spammers, but this comes across a smidge naive considering Cloudflare's overall footprint in the modern internet.

All python packaging challenges are solved.

This comes across as uninformed at best and ignorant at worst. Python still doesn't have a reliable way to handle native dependencies across different platforms. pip and setuptools cannot be the end all be all of this packaging ecosystem nor should they be.

Structurally, it's closer to a slasher/horror flick

Having rewatched T1 very recently, I couldn't agree more with this. At one point I turned to my partner and asked what genre this actually was because all things pointed to horror.

Hoosiers, for sure. "My team is on the floor" was such a flex as a coach, it is still difficult for me to separate the man he played in that movie and the actor, to me they're one and the same.

Prefect has more polish and is easier to get started than any of the existing options. We've been running their self-hosted for over three years and it basically stays out of the way.

We looked at Dagster as well as Airflow. I really, really liked Dagster but the BI team didn't.

I cannot imagine using Airflow for anything meaningful and respecting myself at the end of a work day. The local development experience was abysmal. Deployments sucked.

That being said, if you're not using anything except maybe cron right now, and if you don't care about the solution being a proper data pipelines orchestration platform trademark symbol, I'd recommend starting with Windmill.

Yeah but none of this music slaps as hard as it did in my 20s. Don't get me wrong I appreciate it the same I'm sure, there's just such a thing as youth and emotion and I wouldn't trade that exploratory musical phase for anything.

There's quite a bit of new tooling in this space, selecting the right one is going to depend on your needs then you can spike from there. Check out Prefect, Dagster, Windmill, Airbyte (although the latter is more ELT than ETL).

Helm 3 years ago

If I was looking for a virtual synth deck and came to you asking for a recommendation and you said Helm but actually meant the Kubernetes Helm not the synth Helm, you would have a very solid point. But you would also be an idiot.

Yeah no sorry, anyone who reads BNW outside the lens of the cold war endgame knows that Huxley's angle was never any -ism but human consumption in general, and harmful extremes of that consumption informing literally every other aspect of our lives.

Great nostalgic implementation, took my money for sure. One suggestion I'd make to make it more like the real thing is make a number press of 1-2-3-4-5 hold/unhold their respective card on desktop.
