We've experimented with that at SVT (Sweden's public service broadcaster). Or rather, the video team has, I'm just a web dev, so I don't know the details other than what's in this blog post:

Not only that, but a lot of the most commonly used keyboard shortcuts are also on the left side.
That's the thing - when the plant is outside it will get sun from multiple directions as the sun moves, but when it inside the light will only be coming from the window. And even outside the sun is shining more from one direction (south here in the northern hemisphere), since it is below the horizon at times, which will often cause plants and trees to have more branches and leaves facing that direction.
It feels like they're also prime candidates for making a tour with them as actual robots (or holograms), so they wouldn't even need to tour themselves.
I recently found this video of Billy Gibbons performing in the street in Helsinki without anyone noticing. I like that he becomes less recognizable when not wearing sunglasses.

Do you mean 10 minutes? He lines it up with Polaris, so it only needs one axis of rotation. But I guess the alignment isn't that good since it is just eyeballed, but it should work for exposure times much longer than 10 seconds. He is even rotating the screw every 15 seconds which wouldn't make much sense for a 10 second exposure. =) Clever little project in any case. Thanks for sharing the video.

When viewing real scenery the eyes get hit by photons of all sorts of colors, but since there are only three different color receptors (with overlap) we can trick the brain into thinking an image with only red, green, and blue in it is the same. But for example some birds that can see ultra violet will probably not recognize an image of a flower since it lacks that spectrum.
This optical illusion [1] is the closest thing I've come across. It relies on the fact that there are apparently separate parts of the visual processing in the brain for fine details and for more coarse features. This illusion consists of a picture of the fine details of Albert Einsteins face, so when you are close enough to see the details, you see Albert. But there is also a blurry image of Marilyn Monroe, which isn't really possible to make out until you view the image from farther away, or squint your eyes, so that the finer details are lost.

They're not, actually. Almost no one is average if you look at multiple features at once. I would guess that most people have something they wouldn't be too happy with everyone knowing about.

But you may have a point, and the ethics section makes it clear that they are indeed very aware of that this may be misused.
Not only that, but people also _want_ to buy new appliances, since they actually become better. More silent, less power drain, more features, etc. So if everyone buys new stuff every ten years or so anyway, why bother building stuff that lasts fifty since that undoubtedly is more expensive.

Actually, it already is a problem. According to this article, around 2,500 people have been assigned a personal number which differs from their birthdate. [1]
The last digit is just a checksum digit, so we're left with 3 digits per day. But that still would give some leeway for each day. The problem seems to be that some immigrants have been assigned a default birth date (Jan 1 and Jul 1) as their exact birth date is unknown.
Another issue which is not mentioned in the article is that we're only using two digits to encode the year (i.e. YYMMDD-XXXX), which causes problems now that many live to be 100+ years. Most banks and other places now requires you to enter a four digit year, even though that technically is incorrect. The correct way to annotate that someone is over a hundred years old is that the dash changes to a plus sign (i.e. YYMMDD+XXXX), although I've never seen that implemented anywhere.

Ah, yes of course. And as cyanoacry noted in another comment, the satellite isn't actually in the Lagrange point - it is orbiting it. Thanks for clearing that up.
But the satellite is at the L1 Lagrange point which is between the earth and the sun. So if you see the moon pass in front of the earth from L1 shouldn't the moon then also be directly between the earth and the sun? And as someone in another post noted: you can see the suns reflection in the ocean. And the moon passes directly over this spot.

I tried out his demo back then and unfortunately it isn't as impressive in real life as it is on video. The problem is that at the distance you usually have your television the most important depth cue is the stereo separation of images, i.e. what you get when wearing 3D-glasses.
So while the objects move around as if you would move in relation to them - your brain still tells you that the image is painted on the surface of the television.

There seems to be a typo in the Stats (my emphasis):
Pixels: 16-bit unsigned ints, representing "deci-kelvin" (i.e., divide by 100 to get the temperature in Kelvin).
It should either be centikelvin or divide by 10.
On another note: It would be cool if you could hover over a certain area to see its temperature.
