I agree with you somewhat that using curse words in book titles can be amateurish, like clickbait in the physical world.

PS the reason you're being downvoted is most likely because you prefaced your comment with "I know my karma is going to get nuked, but...". That's very Redditesque and is usually not tolerated.

A simple solution is to not leave this book out for your 9-year-old (or realize your 9-year-old really isn't interested). You can't seriously expect them to release a PG alternative.

Darkcoin is closed source[0] and the creators[1] of Darkcoin show no history of working with cryptography, peer-to-peer, or any form of anonymity/security in general. One of the two founders does however have an interest in "financial markets and economics" and nearly all tweets on the official Darkcoin Twitter account[2] are about the market price. This reeks of scamcoin.

I'd like to add that while this may be true, it's not a good thing. Any act of silencing someone in an act of fanboy revenge is an embarrassment to this forum. It's a shame the downvote threshold doesn't rid of this type of behavior, and I doubt raising it would help. I'm tired of seeing grayed out controversial opinions.

Domainr tells you if a word you enter is available as a domain hack, but there were no tools that actually find the words for you. Sorry I could have been more clear there, thanks for pointing that out.

Full disclosure: I live in Vancouver. Searching for "startup" on meetup.com returns 78 groups for Vancouver and only 31 groups for Toronto. While Toronto is said to be better for startups the difference is small enough that it comes down to a personal choice of schools and lifestyle.

The radio (in it's traditional sense) has no chance of survival. It's only lifeline is people listening to it in cars but even that won't last. If I'm in the mood for listening to music I can pick my own songs or use a service that creates customized playlists and listen to them without sitting through 10 minutes of ads every three songs. The whole idea of radio stations is old-fashioned and if it was pitched today it would be laughed at by every VC in the room. Maybe I'm being too harsh on it, but that's just my opinion that I've formed over many years of trying to find something good on the radio in the car.

As far as I know Paul Graham has never signed a comment as or claimed to be "PG" including the quotes. OP's question is phrased in a way that assumes Paul Graham has commented as "PG" (whatever that may mean) before, so if OP was using the quotes as part of the name then the question itself wouldn't make any sense. And if that IS the case then, well, I really don't know where to go from there.

Well, you've got me there... Unless OP used "PG" to refer to Paul Graham's initials and not the username. In that case the only way PG could comment not as PG would be to claim to be someone else, in which case the answer wouldn't be true.

It would be impossible for him to truthfully reply anything but "yes" to this question.

Sorry about that. The only domains that might be reserved for corporate services are those with the .ly TLD. Sadly the .ly whois server puts reserved and available domains in the same category.

There are no referral links though, just regular links to Gandi because I like them and they support a wide range of TLD's.

I can't remember if this is in effect or not, but stories starting with "show hn" (case insensitive) should get a ranking boost. That would help more user created content get on the front page, which is a good thing IMO.

They're concerned about Time4Popcorn crediting the work as their own, which Popcorn Time (or any pirating platform I've ever seen) doesn't do.

Sure doesn't sound like just hugging. Also her post doesn't say she simply told the guy she was cold, it says she directly asked him to turn on the heater. Either way, what's said to have happened next would be a very clear indication that she didn't mean anything romantic of it:

That's one of my all time favorite episodes because no matter how ridiculous "MeowMeowBeanz" is portrayed to be, it's totally possible. People will try to validate creating these apps, but at the end of the day they're profiting from bullying ("cyber" bullying is redundant these days) and young people's inability to ignore what's being said about them. It's pathetic.

Currently I like the idea of Screenshot Saturday. If I'm not mistaken Hacker News wants more user created content. Screenshot Saturday allows the community to know what each other is working on, and can even help people build traction for their projects. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future people have their weekly Saturday posts prepared in advance with links to their email list sign up and Twitter handles. I do still think though that it should be named "Side Project Saturday"[0].

I'm indifferent about Idea Sunday, so if you were to remove one to keep the automated submissions to a minimum I would ask that it be that.

Woahwoahwoah... That episode was absolutely amazing and was the first time it became clear to me I was no longer watching just another kids show, but finding out what you just said before actually seeing it for the first time would be like finding out early that you-know-who was you-know-who's father. Please consider putting a [MEGA SPOILERS] tag at the beginning of your comment.

Most of the time you don't actually "forget" names, your brain never even registers them to begin with. Next time someone introduces themselves to you take a moment to stop worrying about what to say next and actually focus on the name. It helps if you link that name to a distinct physical property of the person in your mind. I _highly_ recommend reading "You Can Have an Amazing Memory: Learn Life-Changing Techniques and Tips from the Memory Maestro"[0]. I followed the techniques described in that book and the result absolutely blew my mind.

Nice demo. I love "shelves" on mobile apps, but I found all of these except "slide in on top" annoying. The rest reminded me of those ridiculous Powerpoint transitions where every letter falls into place one at a time. Do a favor to your users and don't let novelty transitions overshadow actual UX.

If you want to use box2d, use box2dweb[0]. It's much smaller and faster and is actually up to date. However if you want your game to run smoothly on mobile phones your best bet is Chimpunk-js[1].
