Given the things they have accomplished so far and the amount of investment that has gone into facebook, It will not be surprising if someday FB does add user web surfing data... (permission-based of course)

The site looks more like a tech blog (like techcrunch etc. but still in its nascent stages) than an online learning platform. The content does not match up to the standards of what you will call education. It has a long way to go before it justifies being an online learning platform...

who uses Bing anyway... their results seem useless when compared with Google's.. or just that google has a lot of my data to assess what results I would wan't first...

loved your analogy... but you see I use Toyota all the time... just that if I have a choice between a Toyota and a Ferrari, I'll go with Ferrari if I have the resources. Anyways I love Coursera, I am taking a lot of classes there. Remember a lot of quality of a course depends on how well the teacher conveys it whether its a lecture hall or an online course.

I still doubt that online courses could be ever a replacement for that good old one on one classroom session... the discussions and interactions between good students and professors... I find there's no faster way to learn than when an expert explains something to you in person, you can ask questions there and then... clarify them and move on. In an online lecture if I get stuck... I'll have to pause, clarify my question searching on google(sometimes not easy), then get back to the rest of the lecture.

I do not think, showing me ads is a problem for me when I am using a free service. It is finally my choice to click them or not...

yup, it only matches the exact parts but that it does that very well, It even identified a very old and unpopular song in Marvadi language (a minor dailect of hindi, spoken in some parts of Rajasthan, an Indian state). that must mean that they maintain a very extensive database...

'Shazaam' iPhone/Android app does nearly that... it can identify the song by listening to a part of the actual recorded song. But it still can't identify the one that you sing or play on an instrument... I am pretty sure they'll be working on something like this...

am i the only one who thinks this is not at all like stealing... if some one stole your car you'll not have it any more... you will be devoid of it... not the same in this case

It would be nice to have a very basic starter's tutorial involving stuff like 'how to install and setup python, how to work with python shell' absolute beginners might find it useful...

I realize it was pretty dumb of me to forget about linkedin groups... thanks. But the fact still holds (atleast in my country, India... scenario might be different for different countries or even localities) 'number of coders in java' > 'number of coders in python'

agreed... despite of a nice interface, the site does lack organization and some super beginner stuff, I did overlook the absence of those...

really trumps me... almost every coder I have ever met who has tried hands on python loves it...(easy to see why) and there isn't any scarcity of em. yet, its proving difficult to find a python guy to hire for our startup...

All the data mentioned there is all good... but I would suggest that you put some reference links to back it up...
