Chase Ink Business preferred is awesome - and it gives you 3x points on Internet Marketing spend (i.e. Adwords/FB):

"on advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year"

We've continually raised the price on our product as we grow and add features. It was nerve wracking at first, but now are confident enough in our product that we feel good standing behind our pricing.

We are targeting larger, more stable customers, and have historically found the ones that say our pricing is too expensive are the ones that require much more support and maintenance. Have no issue seeing them go to cheaper competitors - while our target clients don't bat an eye at our pricing (which is still probably too low for that segment).

Glad you are calling attention to this. We (https://jobboard.io) offer a feature for our users where they can have a profile database as part of their job boards (example: http://www.railsjobs.com/profiles) - Profile creation is super easy via LinkedIn, but we've had to strip back use of r_fullprofile. A huge pain for job seekers. We "applied" to get the permission to use it but were denied without explanation. Sad state of affairs.

Founder of JobBoard.io here. Job boards can be a great way to supplement monetization of a niche audience. Expect it to take a while to build traction, but when you do it can be quite valuable. I agree you should start by not charging for posting.

Once the audience is built up, by specializing and being in a niche you should be able to charge MORE for postings than a more generic job board.

We put together a pretty comprehensive blog post a while back on the topic of job board marketing and promotion, you may find it useful:

http://blog.jobboard.io/post/44541289000/how-to-promote-your...

It covers things like email marketing, social and using backfill to beef up your inventory....hope this helps!

We ask sellers to create their own Stripe accounts via Connect on JobBoard.io. It's crucial that they be able to control their own refunds, the $ amounts on transactions tend to be quite high which means they want the money quickly, and it is much easier from a Tax perspective.

shameless plug (I run a SaaS job board platform - www.JobBoard.io), but you should consider adding a job board to this. We've got several "meetup" type communities that are making some decent income by simply adding a job board to their website...

This.

I started a bunch of niche job boards (pythonjobs.com, bigdatajobs.com, railsjobs.com, etc) using a 3rd party platform - but wasn't happy with the platform so built my own.

Fast forward blood, sweat and tears I now offer the platform as a SaaS offering for other looking to create niche job boards (www.JobBoard.io).

Starts out as simple CRUD - gets much more complex - especially when multi-tenancy is involved.

I launched JobBoard.io any so far haven't encountered too many issues with "normals" being confused. Some ask what it stands for, but that's about the extent of it.

I felt it was a better option than buying super-awesome-hyphenated-job-board-software.com

I wore glasses from age 16 to 25. I've never once worn contacts - couldn't deal with touching my eyeballs every morning.

Got LASIK at 25 (i'm now 36). BEST DECISION EVER. I had it done in Manhattan - cost was about 4500 but I paid it via an FSA which reduced the costs further.

I did have the "Halo" effect for about 6-8 months - especially on traffic lights at night, but it eventually went away.

The only downside is that my eyes can feel dry from time to time - not sure if that is due to LASIK or just from being tired [I have 5 year old twins;)].

I am curious/nervous that the effects will wear off - but even if they do and I need to go back to glasses the last 10 years have been more than worth it.

From their CEO:

It's not often that a company such as GoDaddy, with our scale and steady growth, can pause to look critically at the market, the technology landscape, and the services we provide.

Today, GoDaddy is the world's largest web host and domain provider — and sites registered or hosted with us make up a massive portion of what we know as the Internet today. That statement, however, says little about who you are, our customers, or how we can serve you best. So earlier this year we embarked on an effort to learn more about you, what makes you so incredibly unique, and the values you all have in common. In the process, we learned an equal amount about ourselves, and we're making changes to reflect that new clarity.

One of the clearest lessons we've learned is that the one word to describe you best is 'courageous.' You go after what you really love, you chart your own course, and you create something (often from nothing) that usually makes the world a better place. Whether it's a neighborhood pizza shop, an organization to help those in need, or a company poised to launch a new industry, you believe where others don't. You have the guts to strike out on your own to make your dreams — however bold or humble — a reality. That's courage, and it's worth every ounce of support we can give.

We've always been there to help you succeed, and we're making it even easier now with tools better sharpened to your needs. When you next visit us at GoDaddy.com you'll notice that we've streamlined the site, making everything from domain search to checkout easier and more intuitive. We've also made improvements in our most popular products like Website Builder, Outright bookkeeping, and hosting services that will make it easier for you to polish your digital identity, connect with social media and even manage the paperwork for your venture.

We take great pride in our world-class customer care and, as we continue to refine our products, you'll always be able to pick up the phone and talk to someone 24/7 right here in our office — just call 480-505-8821.

The improvements we made today are just a start — so come look around, use our new products, and then share your thoughts with me at blake.irving@godaddy.com. If you have a few moments to spare, your feedback is the best way I know to help us serve you better.
