I'm in the EU and (nearly) every company runs windows (on desktop). Especially in larger organizations (there's plenty of windows servers still).

I only wanted to mention that certain IDEs still used today are not coming and going but have been around for decades and are still more or less the same (keybinding, etc).

My first java IDE was Visual Cafe by Symantec 1999 - and if I remember correctly I started using IDEA around 2002 (and still do - incl. Rider, etc).

Intellij IDEA 1.0 was released in 2001 - is still in active development - and as far as I know the keyboard shortcuts are still the same (depending on the configuration one chooses)

Tons of users with tons of different integrations means tons of issue. That is true I suppose.

I have a very simple Homeassistant setup with a few different zigbee lights and sensors. It has it's issues but 98% of the time it works just fine. The 2% that are frustrating are issues with zigbee connectivity but homeassistant works pretty well. I'm still not a fan of the yaml configuration but that is being worked on.

It seems people (outside the agriculture industry) underestimate what todays tractors (and even more so harvesters, etc) can do and how much power that requires. Harvesters running 12-24 hours a day for days or weeks seem way out of reach of what the current battery technology can accomplish.

I'd bet on hydrogen engines (at least in the next 5-10 years) for larger machines.

On the other hand tractors are multipurpose tools and it highly depends on what it will be used for. If the tractor is only expected to run a few hours a day then batteries might actually work

or at least ads will be 2% less irrelevant.

I've played a few hundred hours of factorio, so by no means a _lot_ but I've launched quite a few rockets and "finished" the game a few times.

Depending on how long you played you might have missed out on the part that's the most fun (for me at least) - the later/end game.

Once you have bots the game changes a lot and you stop building stuff yourself and let bots build stuff for you. Once you have a few hundred bots (and resources) you can build/destroy/rebuild/scale up huge parts of the factory.

The starting factory is usually abandoned but a megabase can be a beast of it's own with constantly tweaking bottlenecks - which can be quite a lot of fun (or it is for me at least)

Same anecdata here (EU) - Kids use Teams for distance learning, pretty much every larger company uses teams (and to some extend zoom) due to the Covid situation.

Hardly anyone even knows slack exists. Everyone knows and uses teams.
