I can't stand Apple's required software like iTunes. Apple HW is great. Just hoping Asahi Linux is ready soon. Until then, Linux Chromebook is my dev machine

Excited about this. I like the Mac HW but hate MacOs. I can't delete iTunes, books, etc. Switched development to a Chromebook for a decent Linux experience.

Is there a configuration for the zip version where I can avoid duplicating the static assets? Thanks
China has 1 small Navy base in Africa. China is a long way away from having a blue water navy. There is a lot of fear mongering in the US from Admirals that want a bigger Navy. China has never conducted a Naval operation.
As of today, Beijing has just one overseas military base in Djibouti – a country which also hosts American, French, Italian and Japanese military bases, some of which also host British, German and Spanish troops. https://moderndiplomacy.eu/2020/08/31/chinas-overseas-milita...
I hate the fact that Apple kept asking me to accept the terms of service for Itunes. I have no intention of using Itunes. I would remove Itunes and many other Apple Crapware from my computer if I could.
It is much more likely that Insurers will buy Congress and the Medicare age will go up and Republican states will opt out.
Part of the problem is that many American companies deliberately give you the run around to stop you from cancelling service. Spaces, a Regus company, is the worst. You have to submit your issues to accounting in TX but they won't talk to you. You talk to Support which can't actually help you. They threatened to call the Police when I complained in person. It took months but I caught them in a lie and threatened charges. A full refund immediately.
https://www.linuxfoundation.org/press-release/google-funds-l... Maybe Google could offer to fund 20% of a bug fixing dept. If Huawei, Intel, Samsung, AMD, and Google each put up 20 employees, it could get done.
Netscape was not selling their browser so that did not matter. I worked at a startup that used their server. We wanted to pay for it but they would not invoice us. Just sending money without an invoice would have been a donation. I sat for hours on their customer support line trying to get an invoice but they never sent one until they went out of business.
I think restaurant, retail ( non food), and hotel owners would feel like 2 weeks of harsh lockdown followed by complete masked opennings would be better than the current situation of months of non-stop partial measures.
Most of China has not had any lockdowns since July. I wish I could travel.
What do you mean quietly beat it? Whenever they had a small outbreak, they would test the entire city. Symptomatic, asymtomatic, everyone in the span of a week. They spent a ton of money on shutdowns, testing, and contact tracing.
My mother lives in BC. She is old and has had multiple problems. She has been in the hospital a few days every month for the last 4 yrs. She never pays anything.
My mother in law is in a similar situation in the US. It costs thousands for a hospital stay with insurance. My wife has spent a few hours every month arguing with the insurance company.
Our retirement plans are in Canada. There is no way that we can afford to retire in the US.
It breaks against the least popular. Clinton was a known unpopular. Now that everyone knows Trump, he was the least popular.
Hydroxychloroquine treats the flu now? Does it treat cancer too?
Whenever I talk to startups, I check their domain. If they are on GoDaddy, it means that they are technically incompetent.
When IE6 was king, there was no hope on horizon. IE6 came out in 2001, Chrome did not come out until 2008.
The key difference is that the most families with boys have several thousand dollars worth of LEGO that they can use with the robot.
I had a tire blowout in the fast lane of 101. The CHP ran a break and the policeman pushed my car to the slow where there was room for me to change my tire.
I think the biggest problem in US Society is the idea that there is just Left and Right. Often they are both idiots.
The idea that our options for Covid are: 1) open up the economy and let people die until we get herd immunity 2) Keep every one home until we starve or get a vaccine.
The correct answer may be complex like Taiwan's 124 point plan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Taiwan
The local public health departments need time to get testing and tracing working. It is the only way to open up safely. We are way behind the Asian countries that learned the lessons of SARS.
It seems like the countries that are doing the best are Taiwan, Singapore, and HK.

When MS dumped VB6, I dumped microsoft. Never looked back.
The engines are visibly different. They are huge.
I would wonder what the standards used are. There was a recent article about how students are less prepared for University since Common Core was implemented. Maybe the advanced class is easier that it ever was.
The biggest problem with education for gifted or even average students is that our standards are too low. It would be like if we set a 10 minute max for the mile run. Anybody that could run faster would still get a 10Min score. Then we rate the school based on the average running time of the entire student body.
There is no incentive to push kids faster than 10 min. All the resources go into the 2 kids on crutches.
only 26 percent of the white athletes, legacies, dean’s listers, and faculty children Harvard admitted between 2009 and 2014 would still make the cut based on, say, their grades.

Could this be it?
Probably a bigger issue for Amazon is that a large part of the ad market is competitors or potential competitors. Walmart, Safeway, and Azure won't be advertising on Amazon.
Does P&G want Amazon to control more of the retail market? Not if it has any brains. Amazon has it's own branded home speaker systems and will not sell Google's. If Amazon brought out a shampoo brand, would it sell head and shoulders?
stock LEGO in sets is around 10 cents per piece. technics are more expensive. Looking at Ebay, it looks like 30-50 cents on average. You are looking at $200K to $400K for the 1M Technics pieces. They said the motors cost $70K. Say up to $500K for LEGO including custom elements.
