Edit: But with Tosslet you don't need to (get to?) have an account to see (catch) messages or provide any other information (e.g. email). We have a privacy-first focus and don't require or allow the use of your actual location (gps).

Would it be possible to break down the US startups by state? It'd be great to connect with local people, if possible.

I'm not an expert in either of these areas (VR or depression), but after reading this I began to wonder if virtual reality could somehow provide a solution or at least mitigate the effects of a jet lagged traveler and/or a person suffering from depression by 'normalizing' their circadian rhythm.

In this interview, I particularly enjoyed hearing the descriptions of a network, marketplace, and platform; as well as the questions founders of each should be considering when building product and growing a user base. I haven't figured out how this effects the application I'm working on yet, but I think it should help me hone into some possibilities...and likely more questions. (e.g. Am I building a marketplace or a hybrid marketplace/network?)

Focusing on generating demand and retention of current users while growing is a key piece that I need to keep repeating to myself. Thank you for your insights Anu and thank you to Craig for doing these interviews with the YC partners.

I made a math game that was ad-free. It started out with a $1 purchase price at first launch, but I decided to make it free since it was not being downloaded. I'm curious if you have any advice on how to market to your audience of "parents that will pay for ad-free kids' games".

Had ACA existed when I graduated from college, I would've been able to remain on my parent's health insurance plan until 26 (5 extra years). This would have allowed me to take a job with a startup company that could not offer health insurance instead of joining a large multi-national corporation that offered good health coverage. Wow...thinking how different my path could have been with that opportunity. I heard about YC two years out of college (it started the year I graduated), all I wanted to do was apply and talked myself out every time as I am unable to go without health coverage and would not have qualified for an individual plan due to past health history.

How would she react if you sent her this article?

Take this as a personal opinion, but I felt like I was having to work to find the titles...maybe they'd do better on top? Is that something that could be easily A/B tested?

If it wasn't historically pervasive, yet false to declare that women are not tech savvy, I likely would not have said anything, however, this is a technology focused community and thus it seems relevant to not promote that unfortunate typecast.

I want to live in a world where being kind, respectful, understanding, and caring are the highest of virtues. In that world, hopefully all people will work toward working together to understand others and appreciate our many wonderful differences instead of insulting them, even in a micro-aggression, this might be funny, yet deprecating sort of way.

Although I personally don't often spend much time being offended by these culturally accepted deprecating statements, I have recently started to wonder if it is contributing toward the public policies that attempt to marginalize and discriminate against any group of people.

This discussion reminds me of a Margaret Atwood quotation:

Perhaps this can shed a new perspective on why women and men may or may not bend to societal pressures differently.
