I've been happy enough with Microsoft Terminal instead of PuTTY (and I appreciate the open source github repo). I dislike ads even more than slop. Ads drove me to change stations to music I didn't care for and listen to the same CDs more times than I would have otherwise. Ads made broadcast radio unplayable as interaction-free background music.

Duckduckgo (uses Apple Maps) works just fine. Search for bakeries and observe every listing has a closing time or notes they're already closed. Bing maps works just fine. Search for bakeries and select "late lunch" in the hours dropdown.

My understanding of the tool is that it actually _is_ the equivalent of avoiding looking at something. The browser either has been delivered the content already or has access to the content, but it's wrapped in an advertisement to subscribe instead of an advertisement for some third party. Looks like it uses the same mechanisms that tools like uBlock use.

Similarly, I avoid looking at the advertisements bundled in my USPS mail (which are often advertising subscriptions).

The DNSimple API for updating records makes me super happy. Easy to roll your own little DDNS script or to have proper domain names set in your Heroku Pipelines builds and test apps.

I broke the shopping cart by adding two pixel 4a devices + care plans, 1 with a trade-in. Now going to store.google.com/cart returns 500 errors (Error code: TIMM) and support is non-existent. Store chat and phone support look like they don't exist. Off to a great start!

Ace your midterms and then build + (most importantly) ship side projects in whatever languages you want. Python and Ruby are both great choices, so go with whatever the jobs in your area use. I'm biased towards Ruby, personally, but the language you choose is less important than the projects you ship and can demo.
