Has anyone ever been contacted by these companies when they're doing their "research"? They're usually upfront negative about the company, "We believe this company to be a fraud. Con. Disrespectful and evil place.", then they spam every available ex-employee they can scrap from LinkedIn and then the subset that respond are the disgruntled burn the company to the ground kind.

I've seen even employees make factually incorrect statements about their employer because they didn't understand or they wanted to rumour spread.

They're also banking on scale to PPA with a specific amendment for egress.

Not being a US citizen or living in the US I can still understand how the upcoming president was elected - regardless of how one feels politically about if they should or should not have been.

Reddit has become an extreme echo chamber of a particular ideology to the point I find myself even with agreement on many points leaning the other way out of the exhaustion of the echo chamber. It feels like some amount embrace, get off on the echo chamber and then there are others (myself?) who get so sick of the constant echo chamber end up being just opposed to engaging even in things we normally would support.

It's not a perfect analogy, but it reminds me of kids who left to their own free will, will eat boat loads of candy to the point of being sick of candy and don't want it anymore even though they did/do enjoy candy they're simply maxed out on having it.

How many of those are Uber specifically with passengers? Why this specific? Because Uber has a ranking system and my gut feels says anything with a ranking system that has tons of feedback weeds out bad drivers.

The other portions of my comments is psychological safety, how many times do individuals get in an Uber and feel unsafe vs being in the TTC?

How many times do individuals take an Uber service, are crammed and with a driver that smells? Even if I got a ride like that I know the market system will remove that driver.

If you told me the TTC required an identification card to enter onto and TTC could suspend/revoke access I'd go back because there would be a regulating system to remove behavior that riders don't want.

I used to live in Toronto in 2019 to 2020 and used the transit exclusively.

I return as a visitor of Toronto every quarter for work and there are many times where I Uber instead of TTC because of these comments. Even slightly busy at 4-5 PM there's always folks who have hit the gym and skipped showering and most days there's "something" happening on the TTC.

That is possible, or hit break even. You'd be surprised how quickly a company can go from -50% margins to positive margins when their job is on the line.

The biggest problem is getting everyone aligned, designing a plan with minimal rework, and being able to hire incredible talent that is going to cost far more than most companies are willing to accept.

For most companies they'll try with their existing talent and it'll be +5 years and an absolute failure.

Not a good sign for Roblox. Yes, many smart people, but they weren't industry changing (Google almost never loses) and they didn't get or turned down Google's renewal program to retain talent.

Small note that most credit cards allow you to artificially increase the credit card limit by simply contributing the payment on a zero balance.

Example, $0 balance, card limit $1k, pay onto the card $10k, card limit is now $11k.

$10k of that is really prepaid and $1k is truly credit, but it would have solved their problems given they had the cash on hand and mostly wanted to avoid declines on their cards due to draining the credit limit to $0.

The problem with other forms of payments is they're only usually accepted on a contract annual basis and you're now vendor locked for the remainder of the contract. You're also up fronting the capital to that vendor.

Canadian here, but not speaking on half of all Canadians.

We do have a highly successful immigration system, but don't have a highly successful infrastructure. There is a housing crisis.

The irony is I believe in the longer term Canada will face an immigrant shortage and not a housing crisis. As a born Canadian I am seeing less & less value to immigrating to Canada unless you're coming to employed as a Uber driver/Food delivery.

It does mean you can't just replace EC2 because the AWS egress bandwidth costs will eat you alive.

I'm shocked DOJ has not gone after cloud providers for using egress bandwidth as a monopoly tactic.
