Found this as I was waiting for a delayed 77 bus today.

The book Here Comes the Sun by Bill McKibben is a really great read on the changing economics of solar. It came out August 2025 so its fairly up to date too.

I've been working on my writing over the last half year, so there's been a bump in post volume.
Adding another data point from my own experience. I had a very similar case with my own blog which I detailed here: https://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/i-dont-want-to-play-the-seo...
Gone through everything I can find, but nothing has made a difference for months now. Would love to hear any thoughts people have that aren't the usual checklist items.
Good news is I still get some visitors through Kagi, DDG, and Bing.
Author here. I have a big backlog of posts, but I did this one first because I was trying to cram an explanation of BLE beacons into the project post.
Is there something like war-driving for BLE Beacons?
Yup, that essentially what Neostumbler is! If you have an Android device go check it out.
My hope for the project is to make a little embedded device I can use, so I don't have to drain my phones battery. Also because it's fun to learn about a new topic.
I've been collecting a history of this sort of thing, and list of companies here: https://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/on-self-hosting-opentofu-an... . I'll have to add this one.
Let me know if there's more I can include!
Really feel a similar sentiment to a lot of others in the comments! I'm enjoying the recommendations other shared here. I _think_ this follows the rules of conduct for HN but let me know, I recently brained dumped about the following on my blog about the general experience setting up GrapheneOS: https://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/i-picked-a-really-weird-tim...
This is really cool. I knew there was a policy on titles for submissions but not that there is also an automated process. Do you know if it's documented anywhere or are the details intentionally keep a mystery?
Yes I love Materialistic as well.
The link problem is also the only annoyance I have. Sadly it looks like many issues have been opened for the bug but I don't see any discussion on the tickets: https://github.com/hidroh/materialistic/issues?q=is%3Aissue+...
This [episode of Android Studio Backstage](https://androidbackstage.blogspot.com/2018/08/episode-97-blu...) has a lot of fun details about the Android Bluetooth stack and all the problems they have faced with it.

This sounds awesome! Do you know what the app is called?
Very exciting! I made a simple bot to scrape lunch specials menus off Instagram and post them to my company's slack (http://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/projects/2018/05/07/Soup-Bot...).
One point point was making custom lambas to spin up/down the DB and everything that was needed to use it (a NAT on EC2, and an elastic IP since the default NAT aww provides is pricey). The bot only needs to run for an hour on weekdays so there's no point keeping everything running 24/7. Excited to try replacing all of that with this!
I've use instalooter as a library to great success: https://github.com/althonos/InstaLooter
Even made an issue on the repo when I ran into an issue setting it up on AWS and the maintainer was fast to respond.
Used it to make a bot to scrap soup special menus from a sandwich place near my work: http://blog.matthewbrunelle.com/projects/2018/05/07/Soup-Bot...
Here's the recording (https://skillsmatter.com/skillscasts/4964-railway-oriented-p...) of the talk that Scott Wlaschin gave at Skills Matter 2014 using what I believe is the the same slide deck. It was probably my favorite one from the day.
Warning though, you do have to make an account to view the video.
How large has the haskell team at Facebook gotten (unless there isn't an official group and its on a project by project bases)?
Could you clarify what you mean in point six about mir?
Great! Can't wait until the next release of the Haskell Platform now.
Oddly enough I did the exact opposite when they released Postal 2 for Linux.
Deleted mine as well. After I waited a couple weeks and tried to log back in I was unable to. The question of how much data was retained after deletion is still up for debate.
Well I'm a bit sad as I was a Lababit customer and this was the first time I heard about it. I'm also happy of course that they succeeded!
senior VP of Android Sundar Pichai told us that "the Nexus 5 will not be on Verizon."
My bad. I should have included a source first.http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/31/5051304/google-nexus-5-wo...
For all, unless you are on Verizon.
I am quite excited to see another Iris Pro laptop. I have been disappointed in what I have read about the Clevo w740su (http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/721987-clevo-w74...). Hopefully we'll see more dropping on the market.
To be relevant today, a programming language must provide simple yet powerful facilities for composition and collaboration. A language does not need general immutable state, purely pure functions, or complex type systems, no matter how inferred.
Is this a poke at Haskell?I'm talking an NLP class this semester and its nice to finally be able to dig into material like this rather than giving it a light read through. Can't wait until the code drops!
