Great idea and execution. I understand the privacy concerns, but I believe implementing a client-side redaction step could alleviate some of them. This step would allow users to preview their uploaded content before submitting it. While designing this feature, it’s crucial to ensure user trust and convince them of its benefits. Personally, I would feel more comfortable uploading a PDF knowing that it will be anonymized or redacted before being submitted.

You underestimate all the levers they can pull and have not yet explored to obtain revenue. Their financing strategy (Apple Card) has made it easier than ever to purchase thousand $ computers for a low monthly fee, interest free. They’re playing chess here.

It's worth mentioning SwiftUI goes beyond the Landmarks app example, and bridges into complex custom UIs as well including shapes and core graphics. This isn't supported well (yet) in react native (and not sure about Flutter).

You overestimate the intelligence of the general American public.

I had many of your concerns early on but having just built an app in react-native, I think those concerns gradually went away. If you're a native developer, it should be relatively easy to get the app to look and feel great.

This is spot on right here and the main difference between the memo and this article. The memo might have cited real science but it arrived at grossly inappropriate conclusions.

To be fair, dealing with fake news doesn't mean taking posts down. He mentioned just showing a warning next to stories flagged as false -- much like how spam is treated in our emails.

In 30 years of public life, there hasn't been a single shred of evidence to back up that claim. These people you know are sadly misinformed.

I think it's perfectly fair for people to know about his associations so they can choose not to support them. I have sympathy for the people working on Oculus/Facebook right now who probably draw diverse experiences and to see their boss openly share anti-immigrant views must be disheartening.

Luckey can express/support anything he desires and that's fine for him -- however ignorant his views are. But it's another thing to say we shouldn't call him out on it.
