I put this together really quickly to keep up to date on the Japan earthquake situation from my Japanese friends. They post in Japanese which I can't understand, so by adding the hashtag #en the translator will automatically translate and repost the translated tweet to their stream. Hopefully this will help others out as well.
For those who don't want to setup their own vpn, you can try hotspotshield. It's free but they display a ad frame as you browse.
I setup vpn on my dd-wrt router.
ArticleBody - Instapaper and Readability do this, but definitely can be improved.
AutoTagger - OpenCalais does this, again opportunities for improvement of course.
Still a nice list of ideas.
Consider this project http://github.com/marcuswestin/store.js as a fallback for browsers that don't support localStorage.
Show HN: ... might be a good start
Do you plan to add length? ie localstorage.length, etc. I'll like to implement this on http://readmelater.com
Looks great by the way!
But there is nothing under current offerings, any idea when it becomes available for participation?
Instapaper does not provide offline functionality except through their iphone app.
ReadMeLater allows any device with a browser that supports HTML5 to provide offline functionality.
Ah, that is the result of the Readability, http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/ algorithm, it is a bit greedy and chopped off some of the content.
If there are better algorithms/tools for scraping content please let me know.
Sure thing, email sent.
Double checked, looks like I wasn't serving the cache.manifest file correctly. Should be fixed now. Try again. Nice catch.
All the html, images, css, and js files are saved locally using HTML5's cache.manifest so everything should load while offline. It is for me at least. What browser version are you using?
Yes, making it pretty is on the todo list.
Thanks for the feedback.
At the moment I wanted to keep it screen friendly for all devices and a left/right frame probably won't fit/look so great on an iphone for example. Maybe I can add some custom view options depending on the device you're using.
Thanks for the suggestion and comments!

Also will try to attend, anyone receive venue location/time details yet?
--- We're sorry to say we couldn't accept your proposal for funding. Please don't take it personally. Despite the stock market crash we got a record number of applications this time, and the average quality was high. And since there's a limit on the number of interviews we can do, we had to turn away a lot of genuinely promising groups.
Another reason you shouldn't take this personally is that we know we make lots of mistakes. It's alarming how often the last group to make it over the threshold for interviews ends up being one that we fund. That means there are surely other good groups that fall just below the threshold and that we miss even interviewing. We're trying to get better at this, but it's practically certain that groups we rejected will go on to create successful startups. If you do, we'd appreciate it if you'd send us an email telling us about it; we want to learn from our mistakes.
