What they provided wasn't exactly 'proof'. Without any conclusive ground they accused other lyrics sites. Linking to Open Site Explorer and saying they they think some links might be suspicious hardly counts as proof, IMO. Besides, now that the matter has been brought under Google's attention, they'll of course penalize the other lyric sites too, if any violation is found. But in case of RG, it was all out in the open and I think that's why action was quick.

I'm in Bangladesh. I would've come to Finland on a tourist visa and apply from there, but looks like that is not allowed for my country. Do you think applying from any other EU countries can make things easier?

I've been trying to come to Finland to study. I became very interested about Finland after I saw some of the the things happening in Aalto University(Startup Saunna, Venture Garage and such). But my Residence Permit application was rejected last year and it was very frustrating. The rejection letter got lost in the mail and for the last six months my communication with the Finnish Immigration has been futile and I still don't know the reason of rejection.

Do you have any plans to open source this for people who wants to install Moot on their own server? As a forum junkie, I'm excited about Moot, but I hope you do understand that to be successful as a platform you have to give the option to self-host :)

No, it wasn't offensive to me and I'm a muslim. Just because something 'offended' you should not be the reason for somebody else to go to jail. He posted stuff on the internet, the people who got offended had the option not to see it.

I really don't think that the OP made any mistakes. And you're wrong about people not being cruel. They can be very cruel. Very recently in my country, four bloggers were jailed because they wrote sarcastic blogs about Islam and one was killed for running a website that mocked religion. And the vast majority of the people were happy. And I'm not talking about the old generation, I'm talking about generation Y and Z.

I myself, received threats because my FaceBook said I was an 'atheist' and I was engaged with social media movement against religious oppression.

I second the PDF option. Create a PDF of your article and sell it with Gumroad's 'pay what you want'/flexible pricing feature. You can select the minimum pricing to even $0. So, people can pay whatever they think your advice is worth.

Another advantage of this is, you get to collect the email addresses of people who purchase. You can easily email them later if you update your tutorial or something.

Your techniques, as effective as they maybe, aren't really 'Growth Hacking'. I think there is fine line between the good 'ol 'Internet Marketing'(read spamming) and growth hacking. I'm not sure your's fall into the later.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the things you mentioned will not help you to get more users and eventually make more money. Then again, if money is the only thing you're after, you could as well be making crapware or promote 'Work From Home' guides. Trust me, they can make you a lot of money, I've been there. There's a reason you're making iPhone apps instead of crapware. That reason should be honored.

Anyways, I hope I delivered my message correctly. There's is nothing wrong with what you're doing. Zynga did the same things you're doing with twists on a large scale and made millions. But we don't want to be Zynga, do we?

Why would anyone need to search LowEndBox, when they can get top tier cloud servers from DigitalOcean(which is linked on the original post)? There is absolutely no reason to use providers from LowEndBox with grandma's SolusVM, when you can spin up a server with DO anytime you want and pay by the hour?

And not to mention, how these providers are ddosing and hacking one another regularly.

This is awesome and inspirational. My sincere respect to Lim Cheng Soon. Doing this with 12 companies must have been tough. VERY tough considering he lives in Malaysia. I understand you don't want to trust DO for anything production, yet. But several companies are already using them in production mode. JSFiddle, NewsBlur,AudioBox are the ones that I can remember.

'Bangladeshi' here. Thanks for putting your thoughts together, however I have some points to make.

It's true that this movement is not against the corrupted government. But to say that this is 'instigated by the government and indirectly controlled by them' is nowhere near the truth. This was started solely by the students, who has had enough of all the wrong things happening(including the corruption). Several, government officials were denied the chance to speak at the movement, when they tried to give this movement a political brand and use it to their advantage. The people were angry and the politicians took off after several minutes(I was there).

What started at Shabag, has now spread throughout the country. I just spoke to my dad, who live in a small town far away from the capital, says the movement has reached there too. Its all over the news.

The youth of Bangladesh are tired of all the lies and cheating they had and this time they are on the street. Frankly speaking, even I could never imagine that people would ever rise up and protest. This is how it begins and eventually this will lead to corruption and other things that are stopping BD to what it can be.

Could you show me another service 'of its kind' as awesome as Flattr? Probably not.

Speaking of the the services not of its kind, Flattr's 10% is well reasoned. Appstore/Google Play charges 30%. Have you heard about Envato? They charge 50% on all sales until you make $70,000. Thousands of people make a living out of Envato and Appstore/Play.

Also don't forget that Flattr is dealing with micro transactions. With Flattr you can give $1 to 10 different content creators. Could you do that with Paypal? I think not. So, I would say that Flattr's 10% fee is well reasoned and acceptable.

You couldn't be wrong enough. I understand you are disappointed, but one should check before saying things like this.

Wow....I thought these kind of companies stay and operate from the darkest corners of the internet, just like those CPA networks where you get paid to SPAM the hell out of the internet. Frustrating that these are coming mainstream and Y Combinator has backed one of them.
