I worked at such venues and helped friends who worked at such venues back in the day. What I remember mostly is having to move from one computer to another setting IP addresses and the annoyance of having to restart Win 98 after setting an IP. I still don’t understand why that was a requirement.

You sound like you know how web apps work even at your age, so you would know that what you’re saying is near impossible without a ton of reputation, money and history in the business. Saying that you’re not forcing anyone to do upload their valuable images or data while at the same time it’s exactly what your marketing copy suggests strikes me now as a bit scammy (not saying you’re a scammer, just letting you know how it sounds) just like a lot of those crypto scammers who eventually say that they didn’t force anyone to invest.

You seem capable and smart, don't fall into the trap that many HN lurkers fall into, which is thinking that they can build a whatever product to get some attention and then hopefully something comes out of it, you don’t have to waste your time on this stuff, or others for that matter.

And this has nothing to do with institutional problems, and more with the fact that if original author (or you for that matter) don’t like how Twitter became, simply don’t use it and try to convince others not to as well, that way Twitter might change what it’s doing. If you’re going to go along and still pretend like you’re not in agreement, people won’t buy your sentiment for long, especially if you’re building tools to enrich it.

I’m not saying you can’t build your product, but own what you’re selling, it’s hypocritical to do that while blaming Elon or new Twitter for what you’re building as if you’re not the one who came up with the idea and made the choice.

I would recommend you look into a Ludwig bin Mises book called Human Action, where he discusses purposeful behavior as distinguished from reflexive behavior in that an observer imputes a goal to the actor. For an action to occur, the actor must be in a state of unease, imagine a more satisfactory state, and believe that purposeful behavior can reduce the uneasiness

So back to my original point, if you’re going to “hate the system” yet participate not only in existing in it, but producing tools to empower it and it’s methods, then you are part of it and it’s hypocritical to complain about it.

As for your own comment, I think your ideological hold is roaring, calling my comment a waste of energy just because you disagree also shows high tendency for being shallow and oppressive. What you think is the point and the actual problem might actually not be, other people can disagree and share their moral value judgments. What you are asking people to submit is highly private and personal data that, under normal circumstances, would be highly regulated in terms of transmission and usage, identifiable or not.

I advise you to reevaluate your choices and think of the consequences of what you’re proposing, whether your services manages to convince some gullible people to use it or not.

This is terrible and people should not use it! Many of these types of services are popping up and I’d like to remind everyone that the purpose is just the same as old; collecting your data and making money off of it somehow…
