Any founders here on HN use FoundersCard? For $495, it's a bit pricey for scrappy startups. Does the value outweighs the costs? Curious to learn more.

I was huge fan of Rocketmail as it had a much cleaner interface than Hotmail or Juno. Congrats to Geoff!

Agreed. I always wished Dropbox had a lower, entry-level tier for around $5/month. I don't need 50gb. I just need 5-10gb.

The problem is distribution. Not many people outside the technical/hacker community are even aware what Linux is, let alone Ubuntu. They need to have more hardware partners that aggressively sell ultracheap laptops/machines. Furthermore these partners need more low entry sales channels like radio shack, walmart, target, or even CVS where more middle class consumers have access to these machines.

This is definitely the case for us. We started the application process earlier but have not submitted until the last hour. We've been updating answer by answer.

I've recently learned about a two other connections with Steve Job that friend have had, albiet much smaller than you see written here. One was a friend who's father was asked to make paintings for the Apple product rooms and another who's uncle ran a bicycle shop in PA that Steve would frequent to. Both said, just working with Steve made them want to improve in all aspects.

This just goes to show you why startup hubs matter so much.

There aren't too many people who are considered legends in life. I consider us lucky to have shared a time in this world with Steve Jobs, legend of innovation. Truly a man ahead of his time.

I'm on the fence of this one; Xbox/MS has the potential to provide a la carte tv that many people long for and go head to head against cable providers/telcos such as Comcast or Verizon. I want to be able to select 10-15 channels I like and only pay for those. However, I suspect they don't want to be in the media game.

Since I'm at the age of where my friends are getting married or having babies, I can see this being useful for the really expensive gifts on wedding registries or baby showers. Heck, it could even be useful for contribution towards a honeymoon for friends who can't afford it after their costly wedding!

This is probably better news than the iPhone 4S. Standardization of MicroUSB is a win for all consumers. Aside from the EU economic fallout, the EU has done something right!

I hope it is changing. Berkeley offers some of the brightest talented people. The business plan competition and some of the engineering schools at Cal should foster the students to actually do the startup they're working on for class, thesis, etc. Most graduating students (undergrad, MBA, PhD) I know eventually end up taking jobs.

I don't think re-zoning will create demand for startup space. The last startup I worked for was located in the basement of a famous berkeley hotel along with a handful of other startups. There wasn't a high demand for that space. What matters is if a startup culture exists. Berkeley's startup culture is small compared to SF, Palo Alto, or the South Bay.

That's very true. It's hard to find many content creators who have a sustainable audience who want to stick with videos over 10 minutes long.
