can't they all be automated away? and who needs guards 100m underwater? shouldn't a well built submarine be safer than an underground bunker?
Funny enough, on a local glassdoor clone the guys who failed technical interview discussed exactly this possibility precisely because the post was open for so long:)
they build bunkers and yachts, they never build long endurance submarines. why is that?
I worked for a company that kept one job posting open for more than 4 years. They've used it to hire more than 100 people, but unless you worked there you wouldn't know.
It is a very good thing for political discussions. I don't see how it would benefit HN.
thank you very much!
could you please name them?
It's not "why do you need writing?", it's "how do you discover writing?". Once it's discovered the new purposes will appear pronto.

No exessive caps.
No huge letters.
No colored background behind certain text lines.
No bright colors everywhere.
Nothing is blinking, nothing is moving.
This guy is obviously completely sane, just unorthodox.

Kind of pointless comparing Russian icebreaker number to anyone elses'. Russia is basically a huge pile of snow next to a huge floating pile of ice (geographically, not population-wise, but still). Nobody has even 10% of motivation for building icebreakers that Russia has.
In Soviet planet Earth AI gets tired of you. That's what I expect future to be like, anyways
Incredible! Before I've seen it I would never have guessed that something like that could be so good!
You can actually do music/audio programming in a browser. It has some rough edges but it works.
they often have a stack of microwaves

and in some countries they never have them?
It is sad that ISS exists at all. After the Mir the world should have gone rotating station route - the next logical step. Instead we have wasted so many resources on something that has already been done before
It's very neat but the gist is that one infinity equals two infinities - infinities are weird. While technically it's cool does it really add anything to our understanding?
Why have UIs gotten so sparse?
"Mobile first"

Southern Sweden! If sun poses a risk there...
Isn't imagination enough?
Do they come along with lifelong sentences as opposed to artificial diamonds that are legal?
Not to mention that a good quality deep fakes (once legalized) will completely destroy any economic incentive for real CP production.
clay tablets are expensive
That's not the first time I hear that. Still can't figure out why it was true.
global superpower with immense economic, political and military power
I seen it from inside - you've bought into a Potemkin's village. When it was a "global superpower" (on paper) it was a much, much worse country by any measure.
You're nation is a political pariah with fleeting influence even among former ussr members.
When the war has started that's exactly where I moved to. Turns out you're very wrong about it (didn't know it myself)
