This is exactly why individuals should not be allowed to have tens (let alone hundreds!) of billions of dollars in wealth - they become all-powerful and too easily subvert the will of the people. They become their own ruling class, which is unacceptable in a functioning democracy.

It's unconscionable that MS doesn't have warning notifications in place BY DEFAULT, so when you start incurring charges e.g. 10x of normal, you get notified immediately. One shouldn't have to set these up manually ever.

Get this guy a couch - someone has a case of the vapours. PRERELEASED SOFTWARE HAS A BUG IN IT OMG! Yes, there are still going to be problems. No, it's not the end of the world and there's still time to fix it. This is a tempest in a teapot and utterly not worth the screen space on HN.

I have definitely seen that happen before. It's good that you are at least noticing it! If you want to move out of that mindset, talking to a counselor of some sort is probably going to be useful. Change is hard, but it can happen. Good luck.

Yet another thing I discovered is that for engineers one of the most important words they use in discussions is "no"...

This paragraph is a great insight - knowing how someone else is going to receive your (as you perceive it) constructive criticism cuts down miles to the destination of achieving the common goal. Speaking so your listeners will be able to "hear" you without perceiving an attack is critical in cross-discipline groups.

As the saying goes, Everyone has a Test environment. Some people are lucky enough to have that distinct from Production.

Potentially getting their DNS redirected would cost even more. (Also there are no "transfer fees" - although maybe GD unscrupulously does that?) So it's only a time consideration.

I have been using joker.com for ~20 years for several dozen domains, and have never had a problem. Based in Germany, works very well.

I had to LOL a tiny bit when I opened up the webpage and found the actual name of the article is Objective reasons to prefer Linux to Windows. I wonder why that word got left out of the HN title submission... :^)
