I made a similar app, it’s called “Only DMs” free on the app store :)

Is it just me or is the (x) button on the banner ad on this site not work, and open the ad instead of dismissing it?
Have I done anything noteworthy these last three months?
Either the author’s bar for noteworthy is really low or I’m really out of touch with what an individual can achieve every three months.
Try GiveDirectly!
This website is refreshing over and over making it impossible to read on my phone ...
Is there an actual demo?
I’ve been trying to delete every trace of creative cloud from my computer. Despite scouring the file system and rm-rf everything I can find, it comes back every restart ️
Cringeworthy statement from the manufacturer:
(I) THE PRODUCTS ARE NOT CONSUMER PRODUCTS INTENDED FOR PERSONAL, FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD PURPOSES; AND (II) PURCHASER IS PURCHASING THE PRODUCTS FOR COMMERCIAL USE AND/OR IN A BUSINESS CAPACITY. ORDERS PLACED BY CONSUMERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Capital One’s secured card helped me build credit when I arrived in the US years and years ago. Interest rates were high but I wasn’t shocked by that given I was someone with no credit history.
Are we upset that big tech is lobbying, or are we upset about lobbying in general?
I can’t think of any big US corporation that doesn’t spend money lobbying.
Is the ask here for Facebook not to do anything to intervene?
Times was giving Facebook crap that Facebook Live promoted/publicized suicides, so doesn’t quite compute that their attempt to do something about it is also bad.
I remember a very similar YC company to this - I think it was called Ark. What happened to them?
It's absolutely not true that FB currently has 250 engineers. There were over 700 in 2012. The company has multiplied in size many times over since then.
You linked to an answer with no source. Here's a revant post from the FB blog: https://www.facebook.com/notes/facebook-engineering/ship-ear...
Thanks for suggesting patreon! Used it for the first time with him.
Facebook has offices in Seattle and NYC too. In NYC you can buy in NJ, Queens or Brooklyn and still have a reasonable commute.
Makes a lot of sense to me - where I work, we use Concur to book business travel. Concur's current UI for booking flights is complicated and makes it hard to pick optimal results. I think they could benefit from the team working to improve the feature.
The email you send to verify the bank comes off as SUPER shady. It reads exactly like a phishing email. It doesn't talk about which site / bank I'm using. Might be worth fixing.

Thank you for being a valued customer.

I couldn't sign up using an email address that has a + in it. (My amazon email is abcd+amazon@gmail.com). Could you get paribus not to flag it as invalid?
This never happens in san francisco, the rents go up very little every year.. less than inflation, so in real terms your rent gets cheaper every year.
They work on a big gamut of things, including but not limited to protecting your account from getting hacked, helping you recover your account if you do, impersonations, spam, etc. It' s not just "help people act nicer" :)
Yeah it's the dialect of my hometown - that's def not standard Finnish :)
Messenger?
It's hard to make anything that people want to open and use every day, that's why I commend the folks behind secret.
What is Divvy? If you mean Divvyshot I thought it was a talent acquisition.
I think the redesign could benefit from better organization and more contrast. I felt like "search by" was unnecessarily cramped in a corner, the input fields weren't standing out, and the options at the bottom could be better visually organized.
This is great!
I suggest actions don't up and down but instead just quickly fade in/out next to each para as you mouse over. Would be better to make them more subtle to make them less distracting, then you could reveal the whole thing when user hovers the right side.
I'd look at medium (their "add comment" and "add photo" ctas) - they are clear and not distracting.
Another thing that distracted me other than the animation was how "add tag" got in the way of the annotation link. I'd aim my mouse at the annotation link and the link would move before I click on it. It should stay put.
Would also be great being able to close annotations by clicking outside.
Yeah, when the OPT runs out you need H-1B. However there's something called the Cap-Gap extension which extends your OPT until your H-1B begins.
I actually got an O-1 because my company got press and funding and I was able to use that as evidence of extraordinary talent .
Sure. public at cem dot re
* You can do this on the OPT *. Without OPT F-1 employment rules are strict. But the OPT is basically a green card when it comes to what kind of work you can do (anywhere, you don't have to ask anyone's permission to change employers, you can freelance, you can start a business, you can work for multiple employers).
You need to work full-time on OPT. I don't know how they check but you need to be prepared to prove that you're working full time. (I know about this because if you're freelancing, my school told that I need to keep extensive paper trail to prove that I'm employed.) There's limitations about how long you can be unemployed in the OPT.
You need to register your company in E-verify for OPT extension. To register for e-verify you need tax ID numbers and a DUNS number as well. It's a pain but I was able to do it myself. (They make you study for a quiz, etc). You actually don't need to e-verify yourself. Just registering the company and getting an e-verify number was enough for us.
