Fine for personal stuff and exploration.

In a work setting, beware of DIY Syndrome. Move away from an established tool, and now your on the hook for documentation, onboarding and maintenance. When the one dev who cares about that leaves the company, everything will fester. It never ends well.

Compared to the 90s, I'm sure those years did feel pretty awful, but 2008-2010 were far worse. The global financial crisis caused college graduates to return to school for additional 1-2 year degrees in order to simply defer student loan payments, and avoid the job market. Once they graduated from their masters programs, or additional majors, they were still applying for the same entry level positions.

But is it possible that part of the reason crime is down is because of Stranger Danger?

Yes. This is a really soft question. Sure, part of the reason that crime is down could possibly be due to stranger danger.

On the flip side, over-parenting has negative consequences on kids who have no freedom. I believe the same poll had said that most kids had never walked down a grocery store aisle by themselves and weren't allowed to play outside in front of their house w/o a parent.

I shut mine down every day. It stops battery drain and is a point of friction if I am thinking about "jumping on to work for a sec" at night. If the work is truly not important, I won't want to boot up and get situated.

The approach didn't drive quality. 1 team cared about their code and felt empowered to improve it, the other didn't.

I have a 13 mini and a case with a built-in 6800mAh battery. Without the case, this phone is low battery half way through the day. When watching videos, I do feel like 5.4" screen is a little bit small. Overall happy though. I wanted a smaller phone.

I used to think the same. I would guess that you do not have a big breakfast. Without getting a real meal in for breakfast, hitting a huge calorie surplus is difficult. If you counted your calories and tried to get a 1000 calorie meal for breakfast, hit 3000 calories a day, you’d probably gain 10% in a few weeks. Weight training is good too… you don’t want to just gain fat.

1000 calorie breakfast = bagel with cream cheese, 3 eggs, banana, some berries, protein shake. It’s a whole lot more than a bowl of cereal.

I would have expected by now that tipping air traffic control would have been seen as a way to boost wages, and create more interest for the job… but I could see how travelers of different airlines might tip more/less which could influence behavior

Regarding messing with T-cells I wonder how evolution came up with the current number of mitochondria per cell.

Cells can increase their number of mitochondria in response to things (mitochondrial biogenesis). I don't know anything about how that works out in the immune system, but have read about it related to fat cells and exercise.

This was also my first thought, and it seems like "giving them extra batteries" accomplishes the same outcome

Their research seems to be in relation to muscle and fat - not the immune system and cancer. I wouldn't expect zone 2 training to improve "T cell exhaustion" where mitochondria are stolen from T-cells by cancer cells.

Previous studies have shown that cancer cells can use nanotubes like “tiny tentacles” to slurp up mitochondria from immune cells.
