Very unfortunate, MPC-HC was so simple to use, has a slick UI inspired by MS Media Player and to quickly review/seek videos it was the very best. (much faster than VLC for that task)

I am with you. In many use cases HTTP 1 is fine. And as we have seen with the Hearthbleed bug, if you cannot devote resources to keep your HTTPS up-to-date all the time 24x7, it makes your server and the user sessions more insecure. And often providing HTTP and HTTPS makes sense too. So I am against labeling HTTP as "evil" or legacy. We should look who has an interest in doing just that, and why they are forming initiatives. Beside all that pretty much all ad-networks serve HTTP ads, so if you want to loose much of your ad revenue, please go with the HTTPS-only route and face the real world surprise.

It's awesome that they implement an email client. (hopefully open source)

Opera Mail and Thunderbird were good free email clients, but now discontinued.

What options are there (PC)? Outlook, Windows 10 Mail, Windows Live Mail/Outlook Express, Thunderbird, IBM Notes, OSX Mail.

Ideally, I would like an email client that is as powerful as Outlook, has the UI of Google mail (especially the conversation view), has superb IMAP support, runs on my PC and stores all emails on disk. What's disappointing is that many email clients still have no conversation view (or a broken one like Outlook), just a "sent" and "inbox" folder, and this in 2016.

Facebook is killing the low-end web design. Instead of hiring an agency for a small website, they just use a FB page. And before Facebook there were MySpace and AOL(albeit with a smaller world wide reach).

Nokia's Symbian based phones, various China based look-a-like phones and WinPhone 7 were called "feature phone".

You couldn't do much beyond the basic functionality. And there was a very limited amount of apps available, if any at all. They were as cheap as today's entry level Android smartphones.
