Unlike queues (SQS) needing state hacks or pricey orchestration tools, Duty uses your existing Postgres to ensure tasks survive (retry) failures, retain state between runs, and eventually finish.

Hey HN,
I've been working on Duty, a lightweight workflow orchestration tool for Node.JS/TypeScript. The goal is to provide durable, scalable, and Postgres-backed task orchestration.
Think of it like Temporal that only requires a Postgres database & and an npm install.
Think of it like a message queue but orchestrated with state persistence, automatic retries, and progress caching.
It's not ready for release just yet but I'd appreciate it if you read the README and starred the repository if this interests you at all.

I became an individual contributor at a different company after being in this non-hands-on manager role for just about 2 years. What followed was a sense of accomplishment, being a happier person overall and earning way more money.
As I got into Minhash & its variants I found it hard to wrap my head around this, so I'm building an online visualizer

It's not really complete, I'd like to show Jaccard Similarity calculations among other things, but this already allows you to enter multiple strings and see with your own eyes what a "minhash" actually is.
Agreed, I'm not a designer but I do need to be able to edit images from time to time. I tried gimp but it just feels ... clunky?
Nowadays I just open up Photopea in the browser. No installs and it just works very well

Fully agree with you BTW. Human intervention will not go away. From what I've seen people most of the time know the answer but don't know how to put it to words. This helps with that.
As an engineering manager in a huge SaaS company, most of my days consist of interviewing people and answering questions from sales for RFPs.
