Well, it is good for a few laughs. You get a bit worried if someone walks around calling themselves CEO of a startup with 2 or 3 people in it.

This works if you already know how to code, and can come up with a quick 1 hour problem for them to solve. And it is a lot of work on your side as well. Filtering the list, checking the code, making sure they didn't cheat by checking github logs, pay someone else to review the candidates.

It would almost be quick to post the job online, break it up into stages, hire someone, check their progress, and move to the next person if their work is not satisfactory.

Now imagine if your family relied on you having this job? How awful would that be.

You will often see this with someone coming into a new space. HTC used to be like this, very consumer friendly, then when they start to do well they change and become assholes.

Pixar is still making (some) good movies under Disney.

Cars 2 was clearly a release for money (they make more money of Cars merchandise than they do from films), but the other films?

All of the amazing websites and apps created here are just copies of other apps, localized for China. I don't see this as anything to be too proud off, creating the apps isn't hard, and china has a huge number of people so you have that going for you.

Show us were China is innovating, that is where the real story is.

Why is this cool and clever? It still only encodes 12 bits of data, it is just different to using the normal 12 bits of data.

These all seem a bit ridiculous for 2014, maybe 2024. There are so many hurdles to overcome to get self driving cars, or private drones.

Then you have to worry that they might track you down. How will you send an anonymous email? The library will have cameras, so might the coffee shop. It's more probable that you reconstructed those memories from stories told by other people, even if you forgot hearing those stories before remembering the event, than that you're an exception to a well-studied and widely documented event.

As an Australia who also has lived in the USA, wtf are you talking about? Yes, the USA is not perfect, but it is an amazing place, with so much support and infrastructure to get anything going. Everything is cheaper, available at all hours, and much better services (I am not just talking about the bars, I am talking about getting stuff done!). On top of that you have a supportive government towards startups, something Australia lacks.

Australia only has a few submarine connections to the rest of the world, it will always suffer because of this. On top of that it is incredibly low density, even in the big cities. The same reason we don't have an subway/underground or good public transport is the same reason the internet suffers. On top of that Australia has only produced a small amount of content compared to the rest of the world.

What do you imagine, the clerk has access to the a wifi panel where he can just enter in your details, match it to your mac address, and you can bypass the facebook login? That this guy has been trained on a complex system, which has very little use, makes them no direct extra money, would be more expensive and a pain in the ass?
