The breakdown of lambda, blocks, and nested functions demonstrates how important implementation and ABI details are in addition to syntax. I think the standard for C should include a straightforward, first class wide function pointer along with a closure story to stop people from adding these half portable, half spooky extensions.

AI isn’t inherently evil, it’s just a tool. the real problem is when companies use it to cheap out or replace people entirely. indie dev using AI to document a side project isn’t the villain, that’s just survival. the convo should be about power + intent, not blanket “AI bad” takes.

Always fascinating how Dijkstra’s writings feel just as relevant today. His clarity of thought on simplicity and structure in code still sets a standard we rarely reach.

The real issue is careers valuing where papers are published over what they contribute, and incentives won’t change until hiring and funding reward depth over volume.
