Reminds the sand trafficing espicode from NPR Planet Money: Peak Sand https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2018/07/13/628894815/epis...
A few years ago, an entire beach in a remote area of Jamaica vanished. Thieves dug up hundreds of tons of sand and hauled it away in dump trucks in the middle of the night. The sand--white, powdery, Caribbean sand--was worth about a million dollars.
Thie reminds me Chinatown, which is inspired by California water wars.
For me, it’s ask questions in r/ask Reddit or r/eli5 if you are not in a hurry of getting the answers.
Asking questions in forums has been a habit I picked up recently.
The process of writing it down and describing it to other people really helps a lot than I expected.
This somehow reminds me when China banned Google.
"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."
It's my go-to site before buying any camera related stuff.
But I guess it's not making any money for Amazon.
Do you know what kind of website would make money?
The buzzfeed style equipments websites. Those full of lists of top 10 best vlog/instagram cameras/tripods. Each item on the list starts with some affiliated links, beneath them are some bullets of pros cons, and every couple of graphs there is a google ads.
I feel exhausted reading them.
Please can anyone recommend alternatives?
This reminds me the movie Barbarian.
It is so often I see kids sitting in buggy chairs wearing headphone with a phone.
It always makes me really really sad and I don't know why.
My colleague told me they started with zero screen time for their kids but eventually give up because sometimes it's the only way to have a quite dinner.
If you like Yogi Berra sayings you will enjoy this.
I will try this in my next holiday.
It is really exhausting to read those online reviews/guides and try to find some places to eat/visit. So next time I will buy maps with recommendations and follow them. If it's not good, I will buy a new map locally.
That's it. No more reading reviews on every top rated restaurants nearby and trying to guess if they are fake!
Totally agree on diversifying payment solution part.
But in terms of pricing, from what I have researched for my SaaS website, Stripe is not bad at all.
When it comes to choosing payment solutions, we need to consider the reliability/quality. You might be able to pay x% less fees with other options but 0.2% more of the down time will cost you much more.
This reminds me when I was in kindergarten, the most popular diet/health supplement are some green/blue tablets which are claimed to be made of some sea plants or algae called Spirulina and with multiple benefits.
I think Amway is still selling those tablets in some countries now.
I feel like the city life makes us talk less to strangers. Living in London, I cannot really remember when was the last time I talk to a stranger except asking/being asked for directions.
Back when I was living in a small town outside Amsterdam called Abcoude, I had much more conversations with strangers even I don’t speak Dutch at all.
Learnt from them that it’s the only place in the world with name starts with abc and ends with de. :)
Similarly, behind every pair of cheap jeans/t-shirts/any other "fast fashion" stuff, there are many more workers paid even less than 10USD per day.
