It looks like NSO is backed up by the Israeli government. They say their software is only sold to governments which were previously vetted, but the reality is that most of the time they sell to authoritarian states which monitor and persecute people opposing the regime.

Sometimes is not that simple. A lot of this is related to personal biases and just the way the brain works. Ofcourse people can try to train theirselves into being more skeptic but in a world in which every day you are bombarded with information is pretty hard to find the time and motivation to do so.

Actually magit is the second most downloaded package from MELPA. It's kinda hard to miss it.

I was hoping to read something relevant. Instead I got a promotional article with some generic rants.

Contrary to people's opinion on this topic I agree to what the author has to say. He states his point in the introduction: " they use terms imprecisely, they write like journalists not scientists".

This is a classic example on how we popularize misuse of certain words/concepts. And Wiki isn't always the best source when we argue on these subjects. I have nothing against anybody using words as they like. But the more we use appropriate terms, the more we can make ourselves better understood.

Most people don't care about semantics but there are some that do. And those who are actively participating in a filed like the scientific one should try to be as clear as possible. Science requires rigor.

Who are these people and why is Richard Stallman among them?
