Yes, in my experience, using dropbox, you end up with two versions of the keypass file (one listed as a conflict). I've been using this setup for ~10 yrs, and it has only happened 2 or 3 times, but as I'm the primary user, I would expect this to happen more often with a family sharing the same file. If things are working correctly, the keepass lock file created when opening a db is synced via dropbox, so any second attempt at opening the file on another system results in a warning to open it as readonly.

Why is NULL a bad thing? Sometimes I absolutely want to know if a field is NULL, so i can coalesce to the desired value. I know this is SQL Server specific, since Oracle treats empty strings and NULLs the same, but that approach has always felt wrong to me. Thoughts? Edit: I see maybe that I should have scrolled down further before posting this. Lots of discussion further down about NULL values.

As an experiment last year, I tried to run Windows Firewall in "block all" mode and wrote this tool to manage it:

I would run "msfw log --tail" to watch for blocked connections. If I wanted to allow the connection, I then added it as a rule.

It was alot of work to setup initially, and I even found some scenarios where adding a rule was not sufficient to allow the connection. I never understood why.

I remember reading an reddit ama by him where he said his process of writing is more of an architect style: that is, he develops the overall arc of the major events in a series, and then fills in the details in each book. This allows him to project book release dates 1-2 yrs. out.

I enjoy Sanderson, but I really enjoy knowing when the next book in an enjoyable series is coming out as well.

You've summed up my feelings well: I can't afford to not be in the stock market as all other financial investments pay peanuts on the dollar. And yet I don't trust that the stock market numbers represents actual growth. It's propped up. When does this end?
