Fascinating how outsiders change the world. Despite their progress, it should be food for thought for our modern-era universities too.

THIRTY FUCKING ASSHOLES. There are 577 deputies in France and only 30 of them are present to vote Big Brother. Fortunately, there are several steps to go: it has to be approved by the Senate and then the Conseil Constitutionnel (in charge of the Constitution) might still reject it. Nevertheless, this proves how much our political leaders DO NOT understand the Internet.
I quite like discuss but I need a better user management…
I'll answer everybody here but I was thinking about something I could use for a company. A place where you can both talk and manage people - a bit like Discourse but with proper profile management. I don't think people are used to shitty forums, I think they accept it because of a lack of other solutions. But thanks for the recommendations, I'll give it a look.
It WAS true. I don't think it is anymore, any Parisian is decently fluent in English and Paris is an open city.
If you compare with other major capitals, like SF, NYC or London, housing is quite cheap (around twice as less expensive). And although the transportation system is far from being flawless, it's not worse than any other one.
Great presentation! Not only Paris is becoming an excellent place for startups, but it's a stupendous city in general :)
It seems not to be available anymore :(
Utterly stupid. The only reason that would make Firefox win is because it's a good piece of software, which it's currently not, especially when you compare it to chrome. You're not going to convince the average joe with a rant like that ;)
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
In theory, you'd better make ONE awesome iPhone app than several crappy apps/website. Look at Instagram, it never stopped them from spreading. Besides, it helps building the wait in the other markets. That's definitely a good strategy.
I really like Dymant. That's an innovative approach, extremely interesting for selling luxury items.

No offence, that's a somewhat classical rant of a French who left 5 years ago ;) Actually France is changing. Regulation is becoming easier to deal with, people are more and more entrepreneurs-friendly, etc. This very article proves it. I agree with you concerning the waste of talent in SSII but that too is evolving. Give France some time!
Seriously, I don't know where this "France is not entrepreneur friendly" rant comes from.
France offers a tremendous amount of help to start, cost of employment is not worse than any other developed country (yes there are a lot of taxes, but salaries are lower because a lot of stuff is provided by the state) and mentalities are evolving towards a more startup-friendly attitude.
The only problem of France are French people who don't believe in their own country.

For his defense, EasyJet staff is the worse, by far. I can't figure out why they are so unbearable.
You could tap the button to add a <strong> element, then type your text and re-tap the button to close </strong>. Or you could select it and tap the button directly, but you'd have to dismiss the OS dialogue. I mean, it looks feasible on iOS, as I don't use Android, I can't really tell…
I'd be interested too! I think on iPad, the easiest thing is to have a fixed toolbar at the top of text area. (But still, this repo is a very nice work!)
I'm fascinated by how schools methodically kill any sense of creativity. The OLPC team once conducted an experiment where they left a few tablets to kids who didn't know how to read nor how to use a computer. Yet, in 5 month, they learned how to hack Android and enable stuff that had been previously disabled by the OLPC team (I believe for security reasons, some sort of parental control). What this example illustrates is how schools create clone workers rather than hackers. And I strongly believe our society needs more hackers, as they apparently are the only ones to be able to foster our world's development.
The code is just cleaner with HTML5 markup. I've updated the project, it's more readable this way :)
Actually, I don't think JS can really compete with native, that's not the point I'm trying to make in this article. Nonetheless, webapps can be an acceptable tradeoff for small apps, that are not too resource-intensive. In such cases, I think HTML, CSS and JS can give good enough results.
Interesting indeed!
I haven't tested it on FF... I really developed it with only iOS in mind, so many CSS properties are prefixed and there might be other bugs...
Great! I'll be happy to know how it works :)
Mmmh, I'd love to hear a feedback if someone does that. I don't have a firefox OS phone, so I can't tell, but I tested it on an iPhone 4 with iOS 7 beta 6 and I think it's a limit. Of course iOS 7 is not the lightest system on earth but even on more optimized OS like iOS 6, I think the weakest hardware will struggle to process it correctly.
You're 100% right. I don't have enough time to do that this evening (it's 8pm in France), so I'll give it a look tomorrow :)
You're entirely right. I'm just used to the old way, but I guess I'm a bit of an eccentric. I'll try to update the repo asap. (Anyway, I think the HTML architecture could be streamlined, my point was more to demonstrate the css possibilities)
Ooops, I don't know why it went so wrong, I corrected it.
