Software Engineer - Working in the EDR and Vulnerability space. Into punk rock, plants, fashion, reading, coffee, art

What are the implications of this? No more centralized store of vulnerability information?
nice account history
would be cool without all the trolling
wisconsin?
It does not take more than a couple years to get fine enough programming skills to make it in the professional world. Do not consider yourself behind, I highly doubt any significant % of engineers knew what cs was when they were in high school. Focusing on personal projects, interning, freelancing while in school will put you waaay ahead of your peers.
I quite like the idea that punk was about annihilation, if you found out the missiles were on their way, you’d probably start saying what you always wanted to.
From Legs McNeil of Punk Magazine: "This wonderful vital force that was articulated by the music was really about corrupting every form—it was about advocating kids to not wait to be told what to do, but make life up for themselves, it was about trying to get people to use their imaginations again, it was about not being perfect, it was about saying it was okay to be amateurish and funny, that real creativity came out of making a mess, it was about working with what you got in front of you and turning everything embarrassing, awful, and stupid in your life to your advantage."
Punk is very strongly connected with DIY. Often times you had to do it yourself because money is scarce: printing your own shirts, pressing records, setting up shows, etc.
Yikes
Build something small in each, you’ll know instantly.
Yes! Didn’t think I would see it, lichess has made some incredible architectural decisions. And also really brilliant, consistent philosophy.
I have a remarkable. Know that the device is designed almost exclusively for writing. It is extremely bare bones when it comes to reading. PDF's an eBooks with code can become a formatting nightmare and it lacks many of the tools that most e-readers come with. It is however, fantastic for writing, and decent at reading if you hack in some custom apps like koreader. You have to remove DRM from amazon epubs though, which I haven't yet done. and can't comment on.
Malcom Gladwell did a whole podcast series on this, season 2 of Revisionist History. But the idea is that some colleges like Yale, Harvard, Stanford have mega endowments that mean they can almost never lose money. Some rich people make huge multi million dollar donations just to make big headlines, but some small state college with a tiny endowment could have used that money across a much broader range of students.
EDR is the future, not impenetrable by any means but it protects enterprise a great deal. And it allows the network admins some control, which makes everyone feel good.
Madison, WI here. Never owned a car in my life
Go look at lichess's open source codebase and tell me that isn't a beautiful product
Does anyone know more about where Nat is going? I am keenly interested
I like MANAA
Acronyms/Initialisms are great right?
I'm not sure how much the board could be aware, but I agree the whole leadership needs a 3rd party examination.
Debt is inherently tied to American moral values. It has a use so it has never gone away, despite it causing damage.
You have to convince the property managers because they are purposefully gating that information. They want you to ask questions so they can gauge your interest and deny you early, also the benefit of not excluding the "right" people. And yes there is a lot of room for discrimination here
How much savings for that 5 months?
Barton Miller is like this at UW-Madison
They just changed their logo and primary brand color slightly. Although I agree it is worse, hardly can call that "UI changes"
Something that greatly surprised me when I worked in my first open plan office was that I didn't prefer any headphones or earbuds of any kind. I kind of melted into my work and sometimes looking up at people walking by or various smells, sounds, etc. would keep my mind active.
For people who think that is low, this is with the precautions taken, imagine if nobody did anything
I recently implemented all these do not track headers that exist in my companies applications. I hope more devs consider doing the same. You can still get valuable analytics without tying identifying information to every request
You don't need space, you can get cheap stands to put a keylight and mic above your monitor attached to a desk, wall, or with a stand. A simple hd logitech webcam can be attached to nearly any monitor.
Rode NT-1 Mic, some interface, some stand. I positioned it coming above my monitor and I never think about it anymore. Too bad my voice sounds terrible, that is harder to fix
