He later refined it to align specifically with the Mayan Calendar because that was getting trendy, and he had a public speaking business to support. He pretty much says so in some of his later recordings.

Smart TVs mostly exist to subsidize the cost of the hardware though licensing deals. We use none of the features that came with our Smart TV, and stream through an Apple TV instead. If your Smart TV gets deprecated, you can always upgrade to whatever the latest streaming device is, and plug 'er in.

I do say that I very much like our smart clothes washer's app and find it useful. It sends me a notification when the washing cycle is complete so that I know it is time to move it to the dryer, enabling a more efficient wash day, and less likelihood of forgetting a load in the washer and having it mildew.

I also do like my wifi connected light switches quite a lot. I frequently find myself wanting to dim the lights after we have already sat down to watch a movie or something. I don't want to kick the cat off my lap just to adjust the lighting. And I use it every night when going to bed, as the light switch is on the opposite side of the room, and our bedroom is completely pitch black with the lights out due to my war on LED indicators. We also travel frequently and have a preprogrammed "away" lighting schedule to make the house look occupied. Smart lighting is a super useful upgrade.

The -8 also has a lower maximum certified altitude than the -400. The -400 can go to 45,100 feet, the -8 is limited to 43,100 feet.

This is actually because the -8 wing is MORE efficient than yhe -400. There is a regulation that in case of a pressurization failure the airplane has to be able to descend below 15,000 feet in a certain time. The -8 wing has less drag, so it is easier to overspeed in descent, and they had to limit the maximum operation altitude to compensate.

On a normal takeoff, a 4 engine aircraft has less excess power available than a 2 engine aircraft. Aircraft engines are sized to provide a minimum climb gradient with a single engine inoperative. A twin engine aircraft with an with an engine failure had lost 50% of its power. A quad with an engine failure is only down 25%. So the twin’s engines are oversized to compensate.

You cannot use the SAT as a metric to compare different cohorts. SAT scoring has been revised many times over the years. When I took it the highest possible score was 1600. From 2004 through 2016 the highest score was 2400. Now it is back to 1600 again. Plus, both the content and the format of the exam has changed many times over the years. At times, there was no essay requirement, at times the essay was required, and at times it was optional. Hence, each year the examination produces a different distribution/histogram of scores even if you normalize the 1600 vs 2400 difference.
