Surely you're thinking of UI design. The term UX design was coined because it's not the same thing. You're right that UX design is not principally intended to benefit the user. That's by design.

I'm receiving scam calls from India saying "Your Amazon Prime subscription is about to renew, please talk to our representative if you wish to cancel". If Amazon Prime was easy to cancel this scam wouldn't exist.

(I actually tried going along with the scam, but his call centre was so noisy he couldn't hear what I was saying, ffs.)

"Open banking" and "cross-border banking" are two different things. The UK will definitely continue to have open banking. The UK-EU banking relationship is still up for negotiation. (I'm not hopeful though.)

All old computers get it right. They are not doing UI asynchrony. It's a fairly recent problem.

This is bad but it's not unusual. There are similar issues in Firefox and Windows. Nobody gets UI asynchrony right. There are race conditions in everything. It's particularly noticeable with a slow computer.

I agree, but I feel that measures that are only available to the wealthy (like putting your finances behind an anonymous corporation) are making things worse. The powerful, who are in the best position to bring about change, are shielded from the consequences of the pervasive loss of privacy and so have little reason to do anything about it.

This probably is true. The industry has been growing quickly for decades so there will naturally be far more people with ten years' experience than thirty years', say. Most people who enter the industry are young, so you would expect the demographic to skew young.

I absolutely agree. Non-owners are typically paying more in rent than a mortgage would cost, yet they can't get a mortgage because of the absurd rules brought in after the 2008 financial crisis. Even after paying for this expensive remediation, the flat owners will still be ahead of renters. Why should tax-paying renters bail them out?
