The argument they're making is at one point the drivers were making more money and could afford to buy a new vehicle or whatever. Then because of fare reductions and therefore reductions in pay they're now saddled with debt and can't afford housing.

The cons being you are fired (which probably would have happened anyways) or you are outed as a false accuser (very hard to prove in the realm of public opinion).

And probably never getting hired again, at least by any reasonably rational male hiring manager. Too much risk.

Seems a little arrogant to say most developers don't know how to refactor or do it poorly. Maybe it's true. I really can't say one way or the other because what I see is most devs believe they don't have time to refactor.
